couple of questions as i am seriously considering performing this mod- -is a decompression plate really necessary for low bost application -if decompression plate needed how much and where abouts can you get them -if i have understood wat "stocky" was saying correctly is it difficult to mount the air con clutch pulley on the blower -does changing the blower pulley (to air con) raise boost by much -and finally are the effects of having the throttle bodie after the bloer really that unbearable (in manual)

hey man, don't get me wrong, i haven't actually put the air con clutch onto an SC14 yet, i'm assuming it'll work with some coaxing (possibly machining etc.) i THINK (and i emphasise THINK) that it will work pretty damn well, as the air con pulley drive is roughly 16-17 cm diameter, perfect for your VL. don't worry about the decompression plate, just run optimax. if you have a bypass valve setup, there's no problem with T/B after the blower. but it's probably easier to put it before the blower, as this eliminates all the problems with much ease. good luck!

Its drivable in a manual, but if u have a BOV as ur bypass system itll hiss when ur going down in revs. because the blower isnt always on, i think that running standard compression would be ok even with higher boost, like 10 psi, because if ur using the blower say 20% of ur driving time, ur not putting the motor under constant strain, be safe and put a cooler like i am PM me if u need any help

can u put the changer on to a vp v6,

yes, but they will be even less efficient on the larger engine i'd imagine. And i've heard that it leans out 3rd cylinder.

[q]don't do it, they sound like total arse... ppl brag about the noise, hear it in person its not a good sound infact its horrible The blowers are tiny little things the compressor is like the size of a baseball they make like 6psi tops and while giving you a bit of extra go you are WAYYYYY better off doing a turbo conversion. A supercharger saps power and effects fuel economy as it runs off your crankshaft, but it should even out as the engine becomes more efficient.[/q] Mate, to tell the truth, you sound like a total arse. yes the blowers are small, but $300 for 1.4L per revolution at anywhere from 1.2 to 2.0 times crank speed that is cheap as ****. Depending on backpressure and intake configuration you can reach as high as 10psi boost safely, but this is irrelevant considering the efficiency of the supercharger setup as a whole. For the price you are [q]WAYYYYY better off doing[/q] a supercharger convesion. YES a supercharger is driven off the crank, but a turbocharger is driven off exhaust pressure, and therefore, the higher your boost the higher your back pressure, which causes a reduction in economy not only in regards to the process of cylinder filling, but due to the effects of heatsoak caused by turbo exhaust manifolds. You try and come up with ANY turbo application in which economy is not affected in a negative capacity and i will giv eyou head, long time. And I am speaking in the same sense you are, in that more power requires more fuel. I mean NO ****, if you want more power you lose economy, WTF are you, a philosophy major?????
