17-02-12, 06:33 GMT+10#141 What I'm doing to the oil pump this time round, it won't have an issue at all with oil pressure
Bout 130psi at about 5000-5500rpm
Will be back running very soon, waiting on my crank to come back
Sean, what's the southern 80?

17-02-12, 07:13 GMT+10#144 Really, won't just pump all the oil to the head then do what your last engine did??

17-02-12, 07:16 GMT+10#145 If you increase your OIL PRESSURE, you will lower the flow. (on the same pump)

17-02-12, 07:24 GMT+10#146 The pressure goes up as it bypasses most of the factory **** in the block
A line comes out of the pump, into your filter, thru your cooler and back into where the std oil filter screws on
It works very well
No oil pressure kills motors

17-02-12, 11:43 GMT+10#148 ok troy I think you really mean you want flow. When I hurt a big end once I put it down to not enough oil flow to the crank\bearings . So I did what i think you are doing now ...kind of.
Big external pump with -12 oulet running -12 line with a inline -12 filter then straight into the block where I drilled and tapped a -12 fitting. All the oil galleries were drilled radiused and cleaned out FULLY to open them up. Did not need to run high pressure but there was lots of oil there and when the bearings were pulled each time after to check they were perfect. Mind you good oil flow is not subsitute for crap tuning either
Putting the pressure right up has a detrimental effect as it can make the pump "churn" up the oil and kind of makes if froth which is not good.
id go see an real engine builder rather then going of internet forums for advice but.
Just because asuper cool USA supra man on some forums has done this and that to his car and made X power or ran x time doesnt mean its the correct way.

Its a Ski boat race down the Murray River. 80K flat out and the big boys can do it in 30 min flat with 2 skiers. That's an average of 160kph on water.
Its a great spectacle on a river that would only be 50m wide and is full of corners and trees.
Unlucky about your oil pump troy. That has happened to me before and its not a fun thing.

it will have a litle more oil pressure only because it wont be running throught the whole block only to the main oil gallery which feeds the motor
Just because asuper cool USA supra man on some forums has done this and that to his car and made X power or ran x time doesnt mean its the correct way.
it will have a slight increase only because it wont be running through the engine, out of the pump through a filter and straight into the mian oil gallery, with a std 2j turbo oil pump with the normal mods to the oil system

17-02-12, 14:15 GMT+10#152 Sounds similar gormo
Instead of the oil going thru the block behind the oil pump, it comes out the side of the oil pump thru your filter and cooler setup and into the block where the std oil filter normally is
It should increase the flow to the journals ect but it will also increase pressure
We are trying it in a std rebuilt motor 1st and as long as it works well, it will get done to my built motor
I haven't gone on any forums to ask for advice on this
I was told this mod and sent videos of it from an employee at Titan who got the info from Cody Phillips
That ski race sounds pretty nuts!
Yeah oil pumps are sh1t jobs but at least this time round we are doing things right

18-02-12, 12:31 GMT+10#156 yeah would of been abit tight if unopened (depending on the k"s), i like 2.5 to 3 thou my self but everybody cooks them different.

18-02-12, 13:13 GMT+10#157 the motor i had in there was just an NA with unknown kays and condition
it had also been sitting for quite a while before i bought it and used it
all that i done was change oil pumps, sump, water pump and put a tt headgasket on it and fitted head studs
this motor thats getting put together probably next week is a turbo bottomend with the crank done by crankshaft engineering
im also putting eagle rods in this motor but leaving the std pistons in there and will be trying the new oil setup
rods are the weakest part in these motors, thats why its getting a set of eagles
if everything works well then the oil setup will be done to the built motor which will be bc625 rods, titan pistons, main studs, l19 head studs, new oil pump ect
it will be an interesting next couple weeks...

Not to bad at all.
8.96@151mph off the trailer
9.05@154mph
9.09@15?mph - Timing Board Played up
9.04@158mph
The car needs some new Tyres that's for sure. Turnes the tyres untill 1/2 track, 1.4 60ft's when the car does consistant low 1.3's. It has a PB of 1.27 60ft.
Slowley getting on top of things for Sydney Jambo.
