Yea there's always something wrong with off the shelf items. My gearbox crossmember for t56 was shocking. Going to give the muscle garage crossmember and tuff mounts a go. My pacemaker extractors were pretty good. 1 question Mark. When you cut the k frame, did you a weld on any supports around the area or just left it?

No additional supports... Will have to see what the engineer says about it though... lol.. should be right though. The amount taken out wasn't much (looks worse that it is in one of the above photo's) and the engine is some 50kg+ lighter than the RB30 setup.

Yeah, just curious as mine has the same amount of clearance. Just trying to work out if i should add extra support.

More progress photo's of the exhaust. Exhaust is completely done! Drivers side headers: View of the collectors. view from the front of the car looking back. Cats Xpipe and front mufflers Back of the mufflers with both pipes going over diff And then back to the resonators And out the back. .. And also.. been working on the dash a bit. One of the "surprises" i've been keeping. I'll leave the suspense with these photo's. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

ok... time for a few updates. Important things : There is just too much to do to get the VL to PowerCruise, so won't be making it. However - progress is being made still. Car is back from exhaust shop. Exhaust is completely done and painted black (no photo's of this). Tail shaft is all in. Re-installed dash cluster, and setup an additional sensor on the shifter Then all day yesterday and today worked on mounting the coils, and making the custom ignition leads. Mocked up the Passenger side front plug to see how it would sit. They hang too far down without a bracket So made some custom temporary brackets (will be remade again alot neater and painted black), but for now so I can quickly mock up the leads. Mounted the coils in the cowl area and got the leads to pass through neatly trying to keep them apart. A few quick photo's while mocking some of the leads up: first side done (passenger side) - you can see some of the custom temporary brackets Drivers Side done: The Passthrough: Passenger side done: Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Put the Harmonic Balancer on today finally. Made myself an installation tool. Grabbed a 1m length of threaded rod (M16 x 2.0) and cut a length off. Grabbed a few washers and a nut for it. Threaded the rod in, Ended up being too long, so cut it a bit shorter. For the record - about 170mm long seems to be the ideal length. Then popped the Balancer over and bought it in almost all the way with a long 24mm socket. And then removed the rod, and installed the bolt. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Still happy with the redwood mounts? Think I am going to go with them now.. same ones as yours, 6cyl.. I also have a T400. Noticed you said you definitely needed the starter relocation kit, Redwood say it will fit without, what is your opinion, what about a manual steering rack ?

Yeah - the mounts still seem to be pretty good. The starter relocation may not be needed if non-power steering, but that will leave you with fuck all room to get the exhaust through. It is really tight at the moment without the starter motor down that side. Spend the extra and put the starter on the other side - will be so much easier for the exhaust.
