ahhahaha the tank has been out once vbefore but dad did that. i'm not pulling the car completely apart so my intentions are to do the undercarriage one section at a time. i have some minor front end bits and pieces to touch up but yeah when i do teh fuel tank i will do what i did to the diff and tailshaft tunnel. complete scrub, rust treatment & underbody seal. also some 2 pack or ppg silver on the tank. I was going to do it while i did the diff but there was a full tank of fuel so i thought 'next time'

springnats debrief - so i headed up to shep after a few months of preparations the last weekend of november for the 2011 springnats. i arrived in shepparton very late thursday night with a full carload of tools, spare fluids tyres clothes swag and everything else needed for a weekend away thrashing your car. Friday was scrutineering and meeting up with everyone else who came up with me who made their way up in dribs and drabs over the day. I didn't make it to the opening of the event opting for a few slabs and a big feed instead. saturday morning we were there for the first event of the day. I got heaps of track time but it was raining on and off all day. in fact when it got to my 3 minutes of freedom on the pad for the burnouts it started coming down again. I was getting competitive times all weekend but i definitely wasn't taking out any prizes. i failed terribly and was pretty dissapointed with my effort in burnouts. i was just sliding over the wet and oily rubber on the pad as it was raining and whenever i did manage to get traction all i got was axle tramp. i came out of it with more rubber on the wheels than before i netered. i was heartened to hear the same report from a few others who got out there. Sunday the weather shaped up, times were noticably better all round but it was too late for me to get into the burnouts having been knocked out saturday. everything went well until late in the afternoon in the last 10 minutes of motorkhana when i was pulled aside to be told my car had been spilling fuel on the track. i'd made a split in the tank at one of the breather lines and whenever i swung the rear end out i flung heaps of fuel out aswell. we siliconned it up thanks to a drifter mate who had some tools and supplies i didn't in the boot of his car for just such an occassion. Overall i had a great time as did those who came up with me by all reports. i was happy that the car performed well in the driving events and performed reliably only needing coolant topups and the fuel tank thing. i was able to drive it up, event and drive home without any real hassles. this is the aim of the car, to be functional and an all rounder i can enjoy on the street and on the course giving it a bit more stick. so all is well for now. for the next few summer months the car will take a back seat and just get driven while i start getting my daily back upto scratch. the k's are starting to show and it needs some tlc and general servicing. (not to mention some suspension.... anyone got some vy front s/l's to match my rears?) Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Hi guys, yep stoked with the banner pic and the bonnet liner. you probably can't tell but thats a vlt nationals sticker across the back of the car right there! heres a little storyboard of the last few months.... copped a defect - got a roady inspection - heres the list of what I had to fix. pretty simple stuff - putting in a aftermarket fuse holder to fix the high beams :/ Thats about it. I've booked a stack of plastics in with fatpsi aka dave for some paint. theres 6 hubcaps (in asteroid) full set of skirts, 1 rear bumper, 1 front bumper and I'm having him supply and paint 2 new centres. I'm always cracking the bloody centres. He has given me a price I'm stoked with and I'm just taking a break from sanding back the paint and high spots now. With the bonnet liner I'm pretty happy. I'm awaiting my new Niche fuse rails to arrive so i can wire the lights up into the bonnet liner. I've got some new plugs from rare spares to fit the liner aswell. BTW the guy who does all of the online ebay sales for rare spares is based out of baysy and has a vlc. nice bloke only met him a few times. but great to know we have some people on the inside!

Those hubcaps look sweet as, never was a fan of those momo's you had on before. How did the SV seats bolt into the VL? Easy? Just use the VL rails? Should run 10 to 17 psi haha

i've still got the momo's! the vr acclaims are just for the short term and one flung off a while back the sv seats are pretty easy. check this tech thread... http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=32325 Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
