Most likely no pressure in the lifters. Take them all out (keeping them in order at all times) and place them in a bucket of motor oil. Pump them while submerged and then let them sit submerged over night. Put them back in the car, start it up and keep the revs up ~1500rpm it will queiten right down and eventually go away after you've driven it for a bit.

ok oil pressure is good no more lifter noise, BUT having trouble keeping it running idling, i keep losing spark for no reason, it running extremely rich so i still have heaps of issues and no time to sort them out!!! Seriously considering sending it too maatouks just for these issues its probaly simple stuff but its doin my head in!!! I JUST WANT TOO DRIVE IT!!!

Car is booked too go too Maatouks on Monday hopefully he can get it all sorted and ready for blueslip.

Car comes back from Maatouks today he has it for less than a day and has it running, idling and driving wooohooo!!! Anthony left me some things to fix up because he said there was no point in me paying him when i can do it myself. So when it get home i have 2 leaking injectors to fix and a few bits of wiring too sort out but i can drive it!!!!

Ok put all new hose on the injectors fix the leaking issue then added a charge wire which i forgot when i wired up the car! Still having issues with the car it will not rev passed 2500rpm and its blowing heaps of black smoke missing and generally running shocking!! Ive change the AFM made no difference goin to try the CAS and coolant temp sensor when i get a chance. It also has a rear main leak so the gearbox has to come back off FML! Im a little over it at the moment and im considering starting again with the driveline and goin big! pull the gearbox off send it to als race glides to be built go big turbo and aftermarket ECU and E85 but not to sure what to do at the moment.

Your problem sounds a lot like an air leak somewhere between the head and the AFM or a leaking fuel pressure reg.

I've already bought some black body deadener for the wheel well goin to do all under the car! I'll try all the things mention and see how we go.

Well after ****ing around with standard gear ive decided to go big with my VL Plans are to keep the standard A8 bottom end for now rebuild the head and change the cam, then will be goin 6boost manifold and big turbo microtech and R33 5speed!

Well im slowly collecting parts for the rebuild would like to aim for 9s with the car now! test fitting the manifold! my new car cover as it will be sleeping for a while i save up the coin for all the work i plan! cheers Luke

I'm thinking of selling my vlt as a unfinished project it needs turbo injectors and ecu to finish, just flick thru this build for info. I'm after $7500 it might sound pricey but with people asking 4-5k for very clean stockers this is cheap with only 105000kms full respray and most of the turbo running gear already done!
