it was a siren swith that could be controlled externally so if the cop was at the front of the car for what ever reason he could activate/de-activate sirens

^^ you mean beacons (and spotlight for night use) in NSW the marked cars had these out of the grille, cops stood there and when they wanted to pull up a car they'd pull the switch which operated the beacons plus the spotlight (if it was turned on) and would step out with the stop police sign. I call it the RBT switch

Not information I've recorded unfortunately. Have you tried a Freedom of Information request under the original registration and chassis (AVL) number? That helped me recently find the original owner and dealer of my Calais wagon. Even Facebook pages like 'New South Wales Historic Patrol Vehicles'? There may be one for Victorian cars too but haven't checked.

How much did they slug you for the FOI Craig? I know it's the initial $27.90, but what about other costs?

All I paid was the base price (pretty sure it was around $27.90) and they gave me the original registration paperwork from the dealer to VicRoads which listed the dealer, customer (company name shown on mine, they may not show individuals) and original engine number as well as all subsequent owners (whose details had been blanked out). If it was a Victorian government car I'd imagine they'd be able to give you all that as well as it's history with the government, even possibly purchase price and disposal details.

Will do that right now mate!! Did you do the foi search via VicRoads mate? If the car was from another state/has been all its life will the VicRoads foi search still pose beneficial? Thanks a lot Craig! Ps - I will be bombarding you with questions over the next few months so it might be a good time for you to check out of ct for abit hahah! Just a quick observation, have a look at the join dates for all the last couple of posts/pages, true enthusiasts boys! Glad we're all still around!
