Calipers I got off NZ EVLHSV. Gave them a scrub up, popped the pistons out and gave them a scrub up too. Got some new o-rings to rebuild them with, And some tube to build a bridge kit for them.

Wanted to tidy up the wiring in the engine bay Installed the hid light ballasts behind the guards, with the rest of it. Gota do a little re-wiring under the dash. 245's fitted, might have to roll the guards if anyone wants to sit in the back. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Good idea to put hid unit behind gaurd. Are they good instead of the normal headlights?

also curious to know how effective the hid setup is in the vl headlamps.

You will not get a wof with these units,The light beam will blind other drivers as the headlight lens does not comply with HID. Cheers Marty

Thanks for your awsome input there marty, as with all the mods to my car. It will have to pass certification, So we will see what the engineer will say it will require to pass.

I've had cars come into my work with aftermarket HID bulbs fitted, that have physically melted the headlight housing and lens. Hopefully this doesn't happen with your car as it becomes abit of a mess..... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

You'll need to roll the guards. I've got 235s on the rear, and they rub if I'm driving in a spirited fashion, even without passengers.

Be carefull with the HID's, the ballasts are the weakest point in the system. Behind the guard cosmetically is clean, but you will have to remove it to fix. No one's putting you down about them, but giving you pointers from experiance that all

Pointers I can handle and encourage, you can always learn from some bodys else mistake. vl-dan why do you think the housings melted ? hid produce way more heat ? bad wiring ? Would excessive vibration give the ballasts a early retirement ? or heat ?

Theres a huge demand on them even through normal operation. They are the fail point in the system should anything go wrong also. your talking huge voltage even when theyre running thats why the ballasts go, everythings massively amplified. Give them a go, worth while. Just dont put the ballast behind somewhere you cant get to. And the heat will have definatly melted the plastic in a normal lense, if you get glass repro's you should be OK.
