i hvn't really done anythin that stupid while working on my car, prolly the worst tho would be leaving the car supported by the jack, just the rear. ripped off the wheels and i must'v knocked it alittle as the jack started to move away so i thought **** it and jumped out of the way and the car just went BAM on the ground.
looked pretty phat tho sitting on discs, wish i could'v gotten it that low normally. im just lucky i didn't **** anythin. serves me rite for bein lazy when the axle stands where rite next to me hah
My best one is getting in car in garage... hitting the remote for the garage door... assuming it is going up, I start the car... garage door hasnt responded from the remote (which i am unaware of... i slam it in reverse and give it the usual boot load of throttle to get it up the huge hill outside the garage... end result was my parents brand new roll a door ripped from its hinges which they had paid 5 grand to be installed the week before... OLD boy was not happy.. 2 weeks later i was asked to move out..
well you dont want to scrach those nice big 19's do we, cameron got up me coz i nelly put a gutter mark on them a couple of weeks ago.
Got another 1,
was working on a vt commy, had just done the ingnition leads, anyway we put it in reverse and moved it out of the shop, i turned off the car and put the handbrake on leaving it in reverse.
When the owner came to pick up the car the boss went to take it for a drive and it wouldnt start so we spent hours trying to figure out what we done wrong, tried everything from fuses to the alarm, i get in it and look donw at the gearstick and go o ****, throw it in park and she started first go.
tim
imagine him he would post on calais turbo that i scratched his rims lol can see him crying now lol, so cam tell us the story about the drivers side rear rim, how did that get gutted

brakes are fun... lol
me and my mate were putting VT SS discs and callipers on the front of my vl, and my mate put the calliper on first and couldnt work out why the disc wouldnt fit in
lol
my friends exhuast was bashed in he ran over a huge rock while bush bashing, so while it at home he puts car on the ramps and starts it up, pulls handbrake as hard as he could and put it in drive, cause the exhaust only made noice under load, anyway he got under the car while it was in drive on ramps, how fu kn dum :P
Back when i got my vlct i got rear ended and pushed into the car in front of me, so did both ends.. In the panel shop i pulled the muffler off cos it was bent. I wondered what it would sound like so sat in but legs out. Turned the key and ran straight into the brick wall it was parked in front of.... So i crashed my car in the panel shop. It had no bumper on it but they had just fitted the new calais front, bent it and smashed a headlight.....
"It has a turbo timer so i never left it in gear" i exclaimed!!!
This was just dam lucky!
A few months ago i pulled up at our car clubs race track in my bluebird. Walked over to the guys, then walked back to get the chainsaw out of the boot when i found a nut attached to a bracket on the ground. "Looks like a suspention nut" i said. 1 of the guys grabed it and looked under his car, "not mine". I thought i better have a look and it was off the rear lower control to diff, bolt was just sitting there! So it had fallen off 2m before i pulled up! I had replaced the bushes more than a year before... Could have fallen off anywhere. And even better was that i had chucked a 17mm socket in the car for the chainsaw!
Funniest ive ever seen is me and my mate went to buy vlct. Guy jumped in car it was at auto elec at time got in car to start it and it was in gear smashed into little kia and pushed it through plaster wall seperating shop next door ....

lol, how much damage was there?
had my starter motor off and back the engine and fully stripped three times, could hear the solenoid on the car clicking, but no wind, turns out i'd knocked the immobilsers unit from it's harness while doing stuff near it, the third time i connected the battery back on i noticed it didn't whit woot or whatever the immobiliser/alarm does, DOH, clicked the immobiliser back in, Action.
today i was working on the mazda and i thought id take off the steering wheel to get under the steering column without banging my head on it.. so i undid the nut, and wiggled it side to side, it wouldnt budge, so i banged on the back of the wheel a few times to get it out, it gave and flew at my face.. result= fat lip and bruise on my forehead.. maybe i should have left it.
lol, i learnt from a panel beater about sterring wheels, he told me always losen the bolt, but leave it just threaded on near the end, coz ^^^^ thats what happens.
i havent done any major damage yet (only 17, still plenty of time) but i did come very close to making a 944 fall off a hoist, that was ~2m high
i was doing work experience at Porsche Centre Melbourne (lucky me ey...) and i cant quite remember what we were doing, i think we were trying to get the sump back on but it just wouldnt work, so we got a gearbox stand underneath it, and the guy i was workin with was standing there holdin it, makin sure it all lined up, and told me to lower the hoist, so i did, then i heard "oh **** put it back up quick!". lol, but yeah, was an interesting experience.
not all that relevant, but worth stating, for the life of me i cant remember his name as it was a couple of years ago, but the main guy i worked with there had worked on porsches for like over 25 years or somethin, and he was a ****ing legend, really friendly and always willing to explain things to me, not just tellin me to go do this or that, well worth the 12 hour days (8 hours work, but cause i was 15 at the time, it was all public transport etc, so in reality, left home at 6, got home at 6)
worst thing that i did working on my car was doing an engine change and forgeting to plug in injector number 4 was driving for about 4 days till i melted the piston
well only found out that i forgot to plug in the injector when i was pulling this engine out oh well i don't think i will ever forget to plug in the injector again will triple check them every time
Repaired the loom running to the cas, well so i thought, drove the car down the street, everything was fine untill the car was then pointed at a hill, the engine under load must have moved the wires enough to break the circut in one of the wires (still dodgy) anyways the car in second started to die put the foot most of the way to the floor in an attempt to save it (sillly) the car lurched back to life and added 10,000km of damage to the brand new tyres lol making me look like an idiot in the process.
