Bled it up last night and took it for a test drive, stops soooooooooo much better than the old drums lol Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Can anybody verify if a vx master cylinder is the same as a vt and can be used, they look the same externally just not sure on the piston size etc.. thanks

anyone know about the VZ and VE setup? Are they a different master cylinder. Looks like they have screw on caps on the reservoir. Can we use them?

As far as I know for a VP it would depend if its a series 1 or a series 2 (someone please correct me if I'm wrong)? If its a series 1 it will need the adapters. If its a series 2 it wont. Best way to check would be to take your old master cylinder off, and compare the flares in it to the flares in your new VT/VX one. if the flares are the same then your sweet - you won't need the adapters. However if the flares are different - ie the opposite of each other, then you will need the adapters and if your using a vs booster then it should all bolt up [the same as fitting it to a VL]. One thing I found the the booster tho, the nuts holding the M/C to my old booster were 16mm I think, but the VS booster takes 13mm nuts and washers. So I grabbed the old VL booster and pulled 2 sets of the nuts and washers off the bracket which holds it to the firewall (they're the right size for the VS booster).

just a query, does the AU one fit inside the seals of the vt? or are they slightly different and as a result require new seals? Edit: doesnt matter because i ordered the seals anyway, just for the sake of it the prices are (non trade etc etc) $21 for the res $12.10 EACH! for the seals. and then i also had to pay freight to get it over here, ended up costing more than the master.

Yea the AU reservoir fits in the VT seals, its only the angle/height that's different.

guys, apart form markovr does anyone else know where i can get the modified bracket to mount the VT booster to the VL firewall? I can't get hold of markovr cause he was doing the brackets. Sydney Race Brakes want a fortune for their modified booster.

hey mate, think your confused I'm talking about the bracket between the booster and the firewall not the master cylinder to strut tower bracket Quote: Originally Posted by NZ VL com the VL V8 one fits i think. or drill new holes in the strut tower that is what i done but got the shop to change the rear line flare total cost $20 Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

just want to say, i got my falcon res, it kind of fits, but doesnt really, it plugs into the holes kind of ok, but it doesnt fully sit down, and also with the lid on the catch on the lid has no room to fit in place, its not a very good fit, pretty pissed off i wasted all that money, as in the end i will now still be using the vs res as it is a better fit, and ill just drill a new hole in the master to mount it.

what falcon reservoir are you using? I just got one from the wreckers last saturday from an AU Falcon and it fits just fine. hi guys, i have a VH v8 and the brake booster is shot so while doing a bit of research (trying to find a brake booster) i stumbled across this. i have a few questions though. 1: how does this goes with the stock calipers? do you get a softer brake pedal or anything like that? i am wanting to do as little amount of work as possible, so don't want to go changing rotors or calipers or anything like that is the car will rarely be driven and i just want to get it back on the road as i'll probably end up selling it. 2: will this still work with the v8 setup or will the master cylinder not be suited as good? 3: why is it that you use the VT master cylinder? 4: if i am simply wanting something to replace the stock setup and don't care too much if it is an upgrade or anything like that, is there any other options i have other than trying to track down the setup from a v8 VH? thanks, and sorry for the noobie questions

1: you'll have less pedal travel, I think it maybe a bit harder? and it'll take a bit of getting used to as the brakes will be fair bit touchier ie you won't have to push the pedal down as much. 2: VT master cylinder work fine with your stock v8 brakes, it'll be a fair bit better than your VH V8 master. 3: because the VT master has a lot better pedal feel and a lot less travel as it's got a 1.25" bore as opposed to 1" in the V8s/Turbos, and 15/16" in the NA's. 4: you can either use the setup described at the beginning of this thread (you will need to bend your old lines a bit and you'll need the flare adapters), or you could try and track down a stock V8 VH setup. But I'd go for the VT setup (which I have anyway and it's really good), and if your not comfortable with bending the brake lines yourself, maybe take it to a brake shop and do it. It's well worth the effort I'll tell ya that

thanks for that. your answers are pretty much what i thought was going to be the case. and i just rang a local brakes place and the cost of getting the stock setup fixed is making this look much more attractive. first though i have to accurately diagnose the problem. the car has been sitting for a few years and when first started after sitting for a while the brake fluid level is low and blows smoke which i put down to being brake fluid leaking into the booster. also the pedal goes to the floor and you only have the slightest bit of brakes. the other thing is that the car stalls if you push on the pedal when it is still warming up and nearly stalls once the car is warm. but this actually seems to be improving now that the car has been run a bit more. i haven't tried bleeding the system yet, or inspecting properly for leaks yet (only just started working on the car again).

if the car stalls when you put your foot on the brake there could be a leak in the booster or in that hose running from the boost to the intake manifold. although if your pedal goes to the floor then that will cause it to stall too (don't actually know why this is but it happened to me before I bled my brakes. once they were all bled it was sweet tho
