Got my car dynoed.. 192rwkws 9psi
My car: 225 flywheelkws 680Nm of torque (Doesnt sound right 680Nm)
Standard XR6t: (240kws and 480Nm of torque)
- Standard VLT injectors
- Standard NA fuel pump
- Standard fuel reg
- Standard NA Cam
- NA Plenum
- FMIC
192rwkws 9psi (final dyno run)
Any way pretty much i had the timing too retarded on 8 degrees (A/F ratio was terrible below 10:1) and had it on 12psi and was running way too rich and making like 140rwkws..
So i decided to up the timing to 11-12 degrees and ran less boost 9psi (BUT also disconnected the vacuum line off the fuel pressure reg) and had a much better A/F ratio of 12.3:1 being the leanest point
Can anyone tell me how to translate lb to Nm
1 lb-ft = 1.356Nm
I noticed the same thing RE the timing/boost on my setup which is pretty similar. With the NA cam particularly you really have to play off boost vs timing as once you start cranking the boost in you have to retard the timing so much you negate (plus more) all the gains you make from the extra boost.
That torque figure is a bit bizarre though, there is no way you are making that much.
stock na motor with wade cam
gtr injectors
microtech
t3/4 14 psi
044 etc.
na diff
good auto street tyres...
12.3@108mph
cars off the road atm copping a new turbo and diff etc should do 11s easily
what is your finished mods going to be to run 11s? i wanna run a 11.9 first time its out, not first run but first session some time i have gtr injectors, will have lt10s, standard coil gt3082r turbosmart reg 3 inch stainless exhaust. 38mm gate with screamer, manual mf5 *eek*.
standard heavy duty right now, and 235 40 r18
but im only going to be running standard ecu for a few months cos i wanna get used to it first and money issues right now, but when i pamp it up i want the lt10s, r33 box and some street slicks on 16-17 rims, with a button clutch some thing heavy, i like hard clutches,
I think you might all be mistaking lb's of tractive effort for rear wheel ft/lb of torque. That graph is just lb's of tractive effort, not sure what the hell lb of tractive effort relates to, I never even bother looking at it, go see them and ask for the engines ft/lb of torque on the right, not lb of tractive effort. Out of interest, my old falcon mad 3500lb of tractive effort on the same scale you had there. It was a turbo 4 litre with 30psi making 550rwhp. Still didn't have 3500ft/lb of torque though, it wasn't a f uckin deisel 27 litre boat

VLT 88: very impressive mate, have you ever run on standard vlt injectors and comp, if so wat power figures u hav?
.....Still deciding weather or not to do the cam and springs (CROW CAM STAGE 2), worth it?
ive just bolted on my turbo gear onto my car now, complete inlet manifold, exh manifold, hiflo, ecu waiting on a dump pipe to be delivered 2.5", has 3" Cat back already, leaving it with no FMIC for rego purposes in a couple of weeks, as soon as i get it home ill be putting the FMIC on, bosch 044, and a couple extra injectors off a hobbs switch and seeing how far it will go budget style!!
thinkin the same thing as {pigyb8} anybody reckon its worth the effort to put a cam in? considering i dont know if the motor will hold up long and ill be building another motor while that ones still alive, ill 100% be putting a cam in that, but im thinkin of putting one in it while its hi-comp just for curiosity.
this is my 9th VL, ive had 1 hi comp b4 (the misses car) but never pushed that, but have always been keen to see how they hold up as opposed to a VLT motor, as we all know its pretty much in the tuning/fuel setup, and if thats not right even the best of motors is going to detonate!
mmmm well i think i might put some more timing into my car, :P
and having head issues at the moment, looks like liftes are ****ed, lot of knocking from the top of the engine!
turbo is now also making a scary sound, extremely loud, spining bearing sound! mmmmmm i hate cars!

id say that the oil pick up is blocked and it isnt pumping any oil around, exactly like my car before i spun a big end bearing, and it turned out to be a clogged up oil pick up.
Yep, squeels are usually stuffed bearings, and are usually the result of either engine debris or carbon and sh1t clogging up the feed hole. Let me know if its stuffed Lars, see what I can do for you, Mr Turbo does cermamic ball bearing rebuilds for $800.

sounds like its comin along in leaps and bounds good stuff when you hope to get the reg-- i like the plan with the 044 they rock will feed the extra inj no worries
Why not i say its a pretty easy mod and aslong as its not to agressive the ecu should do ok if not as i said not to hard to change a cam

that scares me!! can you get oil flushes to try and get all the crap out of your engine? i dont wanna risk that on my new turbo..
