Ok, long write up copied here. siroller May be able to help with his below post. http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=192527 From searching the forums, the later part of sirollers problems gets close to mine but I've checked for any diff markings on the body. I've changed all bushes. Diff has been given all clear (rebuilt twice since December 2014 and about 10,000 or so kms. Tailshaft rebuilt / did centre bearing again last month for the hell of it. New shocks. Advice given from diff place, mechanic and tailshaft rebuilder have either said its the shaft(looseness somewhere), clutch (the plate - giving it a hard time) or even panhard rod???? The problem began when I gave it a hard time off the lights a couple of times after fitting 19 fr1s and adjusting pan hard rod to stop scrubbing. I have tried elongating the centre bracket that holds the tailshaft. When I did this, the TING SOUND HAPPENED 2-3 times instead of once when changing gears. I have also added a few washers to try to get it looking straighter. I am thinking its tail shaft related and thinking that it's somewhere worn (possibly in a couple of places and resulting in the TING). Sounds like a Uni joint so much. My next venture is obtaining another shaft to rebuild and try. Anyone else encountered anything like this? Cheers for reading. ## just tried another tailshaft yesterday (bought a used one) from another member here. The same sound is still there. There is a chance that the one I tried has the same problems( bit unlikely, but you never know). My next step is to adjust panhard rod with the fr19s and then go back to 17s (adjust panhard rod again). Any one have any thoughts ?? Thanks for reading. ---------- Post added 10-07-16 at 18:57 ---------- I have changed wheels and aligned again. Noise is still there. The best way to explain it is, Slowly release clutch with foot on brake and accelerator. Give it a little to take off and then sound presents (ting noise from rear of tailshaft and diff centre). If you try to do it again going forward, it most likely won't. You have to put it in reverse and the sound will happen. It's like backlash or something but only at low revs. Any ideas ??? Cheers for input.
