Chasing some ideas.. only recently after i give it a good squirt i get a pretty big puff/cloud of smoke blow out the exhaust. Nothing when driving normally. Still runs smoothly. No smoke at all during boost.. The only strange thing the car has been doing when its cold is a weird screeching type noise like a vaccum leak at the drivers side.. which I'm pretty sure i dont have a leak.. I'm kinda suspecting maybe the charcoal canister.. its kind of like a shot alternator bearing which would be unrelated of course. i had also noticed the rear pcv line was split and a bit of oil had been leaking out.. i replaced the hose and clamped it to make sure it doesnt leak again. At about this point it started doing this smoke issue.. i noticed last night there was a bit of evidence of fresh oil at the rear pcv again.. could it just be sucking in oil to the intake when throttle is closed? Fauly pvc or bigger problem.. Any help appreciated Cheers ---------- Post added 26-01-16 at 14:20 ---------- I took the intake off the front of the turbo.. there was a little pool of oil sitting in the bottom of the pipe.. still could be from the pcv valve though im guessing although inhave got a bit of old and weepy looking fresh oil on the bottom of the turbo and around the area oil drain pipe. And i have a lot of shaft play its a bit noisy wobbling it around.. so maybe that is the squeel that comes on light into boost when cold.. although the turbo seems to spool up nicely i havent rebuilt it in the 13years ive had it.. and my aunty had it from new and as far as im aware she never had it rebyilt or serviced either.. almost 30years old im sure if those seals are still fine today its some sort of a record!?

Oil in the turbo itself if most likely seals they don't last forever. Install a good catch can to rule out the PCV. Screeching noise could be the turbo although you would see wear marks in the inside of the housing. More likely it is an exhaust leak.
