Gday guys, Just would like to know about my VLCT Details on car
I have. To me it's a Series 1 but it's got S2 interior?
Built in Dec -86. Could someone tell me exactly if Holden
Released Calais with this?
Here are VIN Details;
8X198L230663L
Model - VL8VX19-324
Body- 230663-A
Trim - 15I
Paint - 2B047-D
Eng- LW5
Trans- MS1
Axle- GM3
I did a VIN decode but Trim didn't come up as S2?
Any help to know what Pack I have ?
Cheers

There was no such thing as series 1 or 2
But as far as I have seen all 87 has the "series 2" style interiors in december 86 they could well have put it in from factory being very close to the change over between years
And also given that it is a very popular colour they may have run out of "Series 1" style gear early
What colour is the interior and pics might help solve the mystery

15I means grey.
The 'Series 2' (as people like to call it) interior update is this.
'V5F Calais Interior Upgrade - 01/04/87 onwards'
If you can locate your build sheet it will have 'V5F' if it is factory.
However it has most likely been changed by someone over the years.

151 grey
gm3 = 3:45 iff gears
lw5 turbo
ms1 auto
not a bad setup.
there was actually a s1 an s1.5 and an s2.
s1 is all holey headrests no buttons metal map pockets at front seat.
s1.5 is essentially s1 seats with full headrests and buttons. you will see the bolstering is quite flat and it will still have metal map pockets in the front seats.
proper s2 has a much more rounded "huggier" bolster with elastic map pockets.
perhaps bing dec 86 yours is a s1.5
also theres always one smartass that wants to tell everyone that they know s1 and s2 were never a thing they were just running changes in the model. so be aware of that.
but largely noone cares. everyone uses s1 and s2 to communicate what theyre talking about.

Sorry bro wasnt trying to be a smartass I call them series 1 and series 2 all the time
Pics would really help here as the seats look very similar like S1roller said between the updates
And Ive seen so many variations and things people do themselves like swapping front seats only, swapping door cards only, swapping head rests etc
I wasn't aware that the updates in the interior were printed on the build sheet as VL JOHN said, that will be the best way to show what your car originally came with
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

17-09-15, 22:01 GMT+10#11 Those are series 1 door trims, so most likely somebody has swapped the seats as well as the glove box and padded hi rise lid
