Too many variables. best take it for tune if it was ok before hand and suddenly changed, or if you changed something, swap things back till it fixes it or check the new parts are set up properly. Could be as simple as a leaking injector on a cheap Aeroflow fuel rail. air goes in the leak as fuel comes out. idles high and smell like fuel.

its running rich as ****- can smell fumes instantly you cane not make accurate and reliable assumptions based on smell, also upon start up the ECU reads the engine is cold via the CTS, the ECU adjusts accordingly by injecting more fuel My car is idling at between 1000-1300 rpm- is this normal? This figure is to high according to the factory idling speed of 650 rpm +/- 50(rpm). The idle is measured via an external tachometer as the factory gauge may give inaccurate readings. its got a sard adjustable fuel reg fitted Do you have it set to the correct pressure for your application baby it to a tuner and get it tuned or bolt all your gear to it and have it tuned. Yu have had the engine built so I assume you would not half ass it and take unnecessary risks. get it tuned mate G/L
