Could be a whole load of things... you need to start troubleshooting with logical checks. First things first, look through all the intake hoses / connections for any air leaks (also does it sound different, perhaps exhaust leak?) i would be running the ECU error codes, you might get some clues from that (bad sensors etc.) If thats all good, i would get out the multimeter and check the resistance on your AFM , default is 382 Ohms between different wires on the back (there is a thread in here for checking / tuning). Before you jump in screwing around with the screw on the AFM, have a good read on here, as some people say set it to default 382 ohms and then leave it, others take the approach of using the REG/Green LEDs at idle 2,000 rpm and they should flash together... I put a wideband O2 sensor in mine (just before the CAT) and i just reset mine back to 382 ohms and on cold start, its about a 12-13 AFR, but once its warmed up, its always on about 14.5... if i boot it (turbo) it drops into the 12ish range... so im pretty happy with how mine is now. Mine was using shocking 23Lt per 100, and ive done a lot of sensors, bearings, gearbox service, oil etc. but setting that AFM correct seemed good yesterday... Oh, i also reciently pulled all my plugs out, cleaned them, used a propane torch on them to burn off any carbon (get em glowing red) i think that helped with idle / performance too. The list is endless, but there is information on this forum, another to check is your lead resistance, make sure all other plugs to sensors are clean and have no water in them. I had a temp gauge that was not doing anything, went and sanded the contact, working... Today i pulled the temp probe out to give it a real good clean, had all this scum on the bottom of it. I think with the age of the cars now, just these little TLC things help a lot because they have prob gotten pretty average and gunked up. You could also check for any fuel leaks from your injectors or fuel rail or pressure regulator (one of my injector hoses was leaking a few months back, just the clamp needed tightening)
