Mate, just finished converting a GQ TB42E Carb to EFI-Turbo using a modified RB30 engine loom.
What seems to be the problem?

Cant get any spark. replaced the CAS today and still no luck. no power at the coil. even using my old coil and wiring no spark. im thinking maybe the transistor is no good.

Hi mate.
Are you using a vl or a r31 loom.
I did the conversion 3 years ago. But literally just this week I have been weeding the loom to tidy some things up and have discovered a few things that are easier than some of the how tos online. But that can only help if you have used a r31 loom

Just a thought, make sure there is 12V on ECU pins 114, 35, 27. if 27 is missing pretty sure nospark.com and these on Reds Pins 3, 34.

Yeah I am using a vl loom. Have power at those pins. Swapping computer tomorrow night for a guaranteed working one. See how we go...

I had dramas using a vl loom too. Just couldn't get it to fire so scrapped it all and used a 31 loom. Which was a piece of piss.
Not sure how it works using a vl loom sorry

30-11-14, 06:24 GMT+10#10 Yep loom must of been shagged! Swapped it over to another VL loom and she fired up straight away. If anyone were to do this conversion I would highly recommend buying a complete running car and taking the gear from that.
Seperate parts was a bad idea.
Least I have all new sensors now.....

03-12-14, 19:26 GMT+10#11 ive also just finished this conversion and after some help.
i have spark, fuel, timing but the thing wont go...
has 2.5 bar pressure at the rail with brand new injectors and spark seems to be fine and sparking maybe 1 second after fuels injected.
does anyone know if in 6 (eccs activate) needs to be powered?
The car will fires once at turn of the key then wont fire again and just keeps cranking..
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
cheers, max.

03-12-14, 21:20 GMT+10#12 pin 6 is a self shutoff signal used by the eccs relay coil pin 86 or 87.
if u don't use it the engine usually doesn't turn off until about 10 seconds after you remove ignition key. pretty sure its not required.

04-12-14, 21:21 GMT+10#13 Ok no worries, thanks for that mate. Think i have it nutted out.
Although the ECU lights turn out when the car is running then come back on when car stalls/turns off. Do you know if this is normal?
Cheers, max.

07-12-14, 05:31 GMT+10#14 if the ECU turns off a second or so after starting then its power feed is hooked up to a non-efi ignition barrel. easiest fix is change the location of the relay trigger wire for the ECU power source or use a different relay with a lower trigger voltage. This occurs because the voltage for the relay is probably going across the old coil wires that have a resistor pack along them. I think they feed 12v during cranking but drop to 6 or 8Volt while running after the key drops back from the start position.
The ecu lights will always show error codes if you turn the fully (270deg) dial clockwise, if its turned any other pos, it normally shows the mixture set by the MAF. either green or red or blinking between the two.
