Just purchaced an 87 calais, central locking works good but it came with the two factory remotes, one the light on the remote comes on but doesnt lock or unlock the car, anyone have any ideas?

VLs were not built with factory remote central locking.

Really? Only had 2 previous owners, look legit Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Mine did the same. I replaced the batteries and gave the circuit board a clean up. Had a look in the owners handbook, its actually the anti theft remote to lock doors, disconnect ignition and arm alarm. The override key in the glove box still locks the doors and all central locking works fine. The handbook says to hold the remote button down and the indicators should flash twice but i get nothing rven though the light on the remote is on

I know for a fact one had remote locking. elbow31 Best thing you can do is piss the factory alarm off. Mine stopped working all of a sudden one night and locked me out of the car. The over ride switch in the glovebox always buggers up in them too and the car won't start. My remote was pretty much brand new as I ordered it as a replacement not long after I got the car
