My auto vl seems to be missing/not engaging into gear 1, when ever i put into drive it skips strait to gear 2 or it feels like it. Is the trany on its way out and need a reco? Or could it be any another problem ? Cheers Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Have you been doing skids in it ? I remember when I had my vl turbo years ago I used to do skids for a couple of hundred metres , ended up breaking the band in the box . Was an interesting drive after that . Good excuse to put a 5 speed behind it .

Haha its just sitting at dads work, ive done afew but that was with water on the floor cause i dint wanna stuff anything up ahah, but i dont think its from that because when we drove it after we bought it dad said it felt like there was no gear 1 or it wasn't engaging into 1st,

definitely sounds like the band. would need to be pulled apart to replace and while it's apart you'd do the lot. If you want to stick with an auto you may as well buy a second hander for a couple of hundred tops.

Yep it takes off like it has no torque which it should have especially is gear 1, you sound like u know what could be the issue?

Have you tried putting it in 1 ? What does it do then ? Does it shudder at all ? May have to reco the auto my friend . Maybe look at converting it to manual or is that not an option ?

Naa it makes no noises at all but just feels like its not engaging is 1st so , yeah after i get full service if its still playing up the reco is definitely an option but the manual i cant because dad doesn't want me to ruing the resale value of the car because its a very clean car which is understandable, i figured i will take it to the transmission guys and get them to make the shifts allot harder similar to the effect of a shift kit ---------- Post added 07-03-14 at 17:52 ---------- And sorry i have tried putting it in 1 manually and does the same thing and has little torque Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
