My calais turbo (factory NA) has been converted from auto to manual, and i want to convert back to auto, my mate said putting an R33 box behind the rb30 is a good upgrade from the jatco, as far as im aware ill need the box, converter and flex plate, and as far as im aware if i run a stage 3 valve body making it fully manualized i wont need to get an auto ECU or wire anything up except the reverse lights. Can somebody share their knoweledge on the idea and help me out before i go pulling gearboxes out. also what modding to the crossmember will i need to do. thanks

yep im doing this. Except im using an r34 box which, according to mv autos in SA, is a stronger unit again. MV has developed a full manual valve body and it costs around $650. Previously to the valve body they had a control box to electrically control the shifts. Just put the vl auto crossmember on.

Goes without saying but run a good (19x270x180) transmission cooler in series with your radiator.

Yeah I spoke to Mv last week $660 for the valve body.. I'm going to run b&m in drop box too.. The drop box I'm looking at is 45mm deep I think it should be enough to clear the box between the tunnel and the box.. My box is already In I'm just gonna put valve body in it and shifter... Do you know what stall speed the standard converter is??
