Is it using coolant now It could be a cracked head or head gasket from getting hot Carry out a compression test and then you'll know.. Or pull the spark plug on the missing cylinder and inspect for cause of miss

Did the alternator get wet and now isn't providing enough power for the car to be running correctly? Volt gauge showing anything odd? temp gauge doing anything? Maybe also have a look at all of your plugs/connectors to make sure none of them are wet ?

reseat the MAF connector (6 pin), Coolant temp sensor (2 pin square connector) remove the plug leads 1 by 1 and clean and dry them or blow out with compressed air.

Reminds me, i still wanna stick one of these in my SL top radiator hose at some point as from when mine lost water a few months back, i wasnt even aware untill i got home and the overflow bottle was bone dry.... lucky it was only a short trip http://www.daviescraig.com.au/Contro...0-details.aspx (http://www.daviescraig.com.au/Controller___Switches-LOW_COOLANT_LEVEL_ALARM_KIT___PART_No__1030-details.aspx) Bit pricey, but i was looking into doing a dodgy system elsewhere and it just seems less trouble getting this kit and just cutting/fitting into hose.
