Id been having some power issues latetly after putting a microtech in my car with voltage drop and charging. Assumed my alternator had gone to poo after sitting for months.
Id never changed the alternator after 4 years of running two amps and brighter headlights and was looking for an upgrade
I read about patrol ones needing modifiying to fit but didnt want the hassle...
R33 skyline RB25DET unit bolts directly into the VL and runs at 90amps from stock compared to the VL 60-70!
Stay charged guys

I read the thread about alternator upgrades a while back, dont some (if you put in larger charging ones) require more revs to start working, so you can be running a bit *yuck* at idle untill you start driving?
Id be interested in this idea too in the future, mine sometimes when i have heater/lights/stereo on sits quite low when stopped at lights n stuff....
I was going to re-do my earth and charging cables at some point to see if i could get it a little cleaner and see if that helped my stock one.

Mine was fine geniee with the R33 one. Running at 14.0v at idle off the microtech sensor
I cleaned up all my terminals and it made a notable difference. They were very dirty and some had come lose... fix them all up and ran a new earth cable to the inner guard as the factory one is fairly pissy, and ran an secondary external wire from the alternator direct to the battery

ok, ill def. have to look into the R33 or 300zx alternators in the future.
I was thinking i might do my new cables like Steve Meade (~2:30)
