Hi mates just wondering on turbo sizing for my gq patrol wagon. Already converted to efi. Will I pickup any spool from the extra weight making more load or will it all be similar to if it was in a vl commodore? Manual

I used a to4e with a .63 turbine and a .50 compressor housing. Spools up around 2000rpm and hits full boost (14psi) around the 2500rpm mark. I netted 195rwkw and 1050nm on a Prodyne dyno running straight LPG. It also returns 660km from 90L of LPG. Next up is water/meth injection.

i used a much smaller td05 16g full 18psi of boost at 1800rpm, peak power at 5200rpm. 194rwkw, peak torque at 2600rpm, 480nm. my turbo is definatley too small though, only make 10psi up top as it just cant flow enough. makes torque like a diesel though. simmo, that prodyne has something wrong with it there is no way that engine produces 1050nm, my mates 450kw rb30 only makes 800nm. besides that power is calculated from torque x rpm that kind of torque is just not possible with that power figure. no offence intended, i just dont want people thinking they can strap on a turbo and produce a 1000nm of torque. in my opinion a 3071/3076 would probably be a good turbo for this as long as you keep your cooler piping to a minimum to minimise lag. i have seen this turbo make 270rwkw on a rb30det @18psi, with good response and it is a much better design than the old t03/t04's, if you really wanna splash a gtx would definately be a good way to go. although not my area of expertise i keep hearing that the current gen of borgwarner turbos are very good and a bit cheaper than the equivalent garret unit.

Think my 1050nm was tractive effort. I don't know the maths behind it to derive at the wheels. Might add mine was an ebay special turbo

tractive effort is measured in Newtons not newton meters hence the confusion. ---------- Post added 13-11-13 at 08:53 ---------- i just had a look at a dyno graph of my car vs a car with a 3076. looks like you would lose just under a 1000rpm of response but pickup 80-90kw in the top end and about 80nm of torque

I was thinking a borg warner 7076 might be a good option, I also have a patrol and thinking of a wat cooler system too

Had a t04z in between making this thread and last reply. Did consider it but didn't wanna spend the million dollars for all the other stuff needed so will just use all standard size stuff
