Hey guys i have a massive drama with my cooling system in my rb30 basically builds up a ton of pressure in the top radiator hose and blows it. Ive got to unscrew the clamp to get the pressure out or il need another top hose! Haha but it doesn't happen every time i drive it its only happened twice in the span of 2 weeks. Its only started happening when my new setup got installed the only water leak i know i do have is a very slight one from 1 of my gas converters witch is getting fixed next week Any tips or if anyone has had this issue and fixed it will be greatly appreciated! Also plenum is not standard its a cpc one don't know if that makes any difference. ---------- Post added 18-10-13 at 18:25 ---------- Update the overflow lines hoses were blocked unblocked them then while driving home car was heating up rapidly while stationary and cooling while driving and built up pressure again ready to burst even changed the radiator cap hoses are all new thermostat is new also that highflow one

If at any stage in the cooling system lines there is a build up of sludge or crap more than likely at some stage different types of coolant have mixed, which is probly why the hoses are blocking up. Good chance if you unblock them the same thing will happen and or it's also happening somewhere else creating a pressure build up in the system. I would flush the entire system thoroughly with an alkaline product. Refill the system, bleed it, drive it for a week, and repeat the process again to be sure the system is clean before even thinking of putting coolant back in. There is plenty of threads on ct with all the relevant info. Would also suggest after the first flush that you check the inside of the heater hoses to ensure they're free from gunk. It could also be worth buying a complete hose kit from gates and changing them all for piece of mind.

Partial block in the radiator buddy.pull it out and get it unblocked at a local radiator joint.

was only the one hose that goes to the overflow bottle was blocked by rusty sludge. All the other hoses I've replaced with gates hoses. Car was running awesome for over a year straight witch is confusing me il have a look into that additive though!
And yeah have had a feeling either radiator or Maybe water pump. Getting a new radiator next week and looking at different water pumps is a rb25 any better? Was looking at getting an n1 but Have heard the N1 pump is only good for high revving motors

rb25 water pump is different to rb30 they don't interchange

Cheers didn't know that because I've seen on other forums that people have put rb30 ones on 25's soo thought maybe they were interchangeable glad i didn't buy one then

Yeah you def cant go rb25 onto rb30 as one of the twin cam timing cover bolt holes is a slotted hole on the 25 pump where as on a 30 pump its a round hole, I thought nothing of it but it will leak if put on a rb30 trust me I found out the hard way...

21-10-13, 17:01 GMT+10#10 FYI, (you've prob already done this) but with my recent flush, once i had the thermostat and hoses off, i stuck the hose on the top hose housing to the head and flushed the **** outta it for a while... (of course heater open) i did have some trouble with mine once we hit a few hot days about 3 weeks ago, my lower radiator hose clamp wasnt on tight enough and it sucked all my overflow fluid into the radiator.
Lucky i only live 7km from work, and after swapping clamps for one that allowed me to use a socket-set to tighten it, ive had no issues.
Im guessing u have a radiator cap thats newish and working well ?

22-10-13, 19:15 GMT+10#12 does/did your heater get hot when you had it on before?
Maybe some of the other hoses are blocked up not allowing shyz to flow correctly?
Are you Turbs? any blockages over that side ?
I got a manifold / turbo recently to stick on my NA, and the banjo bolts were so badly rusted and stuff, i cleaned the **** outta the lines/turbo so when i stick it on it should be fine.
Maybe some crap from there went through the water galleries / got into hoses?
Ive also heard mechanics say they hate when people use RTV sealant coz it can get into the water, but ive always used it and never had an issue..
