OK guys i have done several searches but come up empty handed... I am just wondering if anyone can throw me a link to a sticky thread on changing manual gearbox oils in a vl turbo...I have an rb20? box maybe its an rb25 box on a highly modded RB30 engine, can't remember what box it is to be totally honest, and being new to the vlt scene and new to servicing manual boxes i need help, my gearboxbox wont select 5th gear and whines alot so i am thinking it needs to have an oil change....im hoping thats what it is anyway, i do know it needs to have the clutch bled as it engages the clutch pretty much straight after you release the clutch and its REALLY TIGHT changing gears...Sometimes i have to force it into 1st gear any help will be GREATLY APPRECIATED! thanx in advance guys.

There should be a drain plug at the bottom. Remove the plug & allow it to drain. Replace the plug. On the side of the transmission(right side) you should notice a plug hole. Remove the plug. I used Redline Lightweight Shockproof gear box oil. Helped allot with gear changing as I had problems with selecting 2nd gear. I had a spare little funnel & had a clear hose(around 1.5 to 2 meters long). I placed the hose into the hole on the side on the transmission & had a friend hold the funnel on the driver side about half way up the door. We poured the redline fluid into the funnel & watched it slowly make it way to the transmission. You know when there is enough oil in the transmission when it starts to pour out of the side hole.(ie oil level in the transmission is level with the side hole.)

Otherwise you can use a pair of circlip pliers to remove the gearstick and fill it from the top. They only take about 1.5L.

thanx guys i will give that a go on the weekend, could that possibly stop the whining of the box and the hard gear changes making it smoother to select gears? i was told before i bought it that it was a fairly new/rebuilt RB20 5 speed but for some reason i can not select 5th gear.
