Ye bud u will need an engineers cert. especially when u go down to Vic roads to change engine number. They gave me the run around when I did one of my vls a few years back. Theyre argument is newer motor in older car

Nope no issue as walkys were injected. Enginners required if you put a 5.7 in as vl's didnt have them from factory

The only argument I've had with victoads was the 304 vl were carby but as the walkingshaw had fuel injection I assumed there'd be no probs

Maybe I should have taken it up to melb Vic roads mustn't be as strict as Geelong. I was dealing with an older bloke.and he was a prick from word go. Previous conversion I did I took it to Vic roads had a girl. No questions just showed her sales receipt from motor she come outside checked numbers and put it right through

This is from VSI 6Vehicle modifications fall into three distinct categories: Owner certified minor modifications which can be accepted for registration purposes without formalcertification. Engineering signatory certified modified production vehicles. Engineering signatory certified individually constructed vehicles.Owner certified minor modifications are generally those modifications which were optional equipment for the vehicleconcerned. Owner certified modifications also include some non-standard modifications of a minor nature which donot affect the level of safety, strength or reliability of vital systems such as brakes and steering. These modifications havelittle or no impact upon the vehicles level of compliance with the Australian Design Rules.Examples of minor (owner certified) modifications are:*Engine changes where the capacity increase is less than 15% above the maximum size engine available for thevehicle (providing no major structural modifications are necessary and where noise and/or exhaust emissionADRs apply, all standard equipment such as carburettors, exhaust systems, exhaust gas recirculating valves, oxygen sensors and catalytic convertors relating to noise and emission control are retained and operatecorrectly).

The V8 section has a sticky HOW TO guide & 11 pages of discussion going back 5 years.
Probably a better place to start than the Turbo section.

26-04-13, 11:46 GMT+10#10 If your VL is already a 5Ltr from factory get the heads and injection system and fit them straight on to your block and you won't need to tell Vic Roads anything but if it's a 6 then you just use the heads and the injection manifold on a VL 5ltr block and Vic Roads can't say new motor old car.
The best person to speak to is TAB on this Forum as he's done this already and he would be able to give the best advice.
