The following example is stricitly hypothetical; Lets say Mr X owns a modified VL Turbo with a GT35/40, aftermarket computer & injection, Glide, shortened diff etc etc (you get the picture), and he gets issued with a DECC notice "deeming your vehicle to be excessively noisy". The notice requires Mr X as the registered owner to be present at a DECC inspection and failure to do so will result in the cancellation of Mr X's rego on his beloved VL. Question is: What if Mr X cancels the rego before the scheduled DECC inspection on his own accord? Would the vehicle still be subject to a Noise/emissions test if it is no longer registered, therefore no longer having to comply with RTA/EPA rules? Has anyone done this? PM me if you do not wish the message to be seen in the public domain. Appreciate your help.

EPA notice is the worst u can get virtually any modified car won't pass an EPA but for your question that's a tricky 1! ---------- Post added 21-04-13 at 20:06 ---------- Lol I just remembered my vl I bought had no rego sat in my garage for 12 months as I went to register it they told me it had an outstanding EPA notice so I reckon even if u cancel the rego the engine and other details will b on file at vicroads

If it's not registered, it won't need to be tested. That said, you won't be able to get it re-registered without it being flagged for testing, and you wouldn't be able to sell it to someone else without them having the same problem. However if you're going to cancel the rego, what's the harm in taking it along to get tested?

Just not to keen on having to remove the whole drive train, put in a stock drive train, only to have to put it all back again and running the risk of getting pulled up again. I thinks its time maybe the car progressed to the next level

Thats the problem with highly modified street cars.. Get pulled over and revert everything back to stock or keep it as a track car. There is no way around it. Get something like a xr6t push 300rwk+ and the bay still looks stock Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

was mr x being hassled by mr HWP on the side of old windsor road on saturday night? ---------- Post added 22-04-13 at 19:18 ---------- but to adress your question, if they ever actually end up giving you the notice to go to the epa for the test, just put a stock exhaust on it and take it, youll pass if the only thing theyre testing is the noise did they take photos of mr x's engine bay? if so mr x wont get away with a drive train swap, they will know

Yes, certain vl turbo on windsor Rd. going to get Fuel and milk on sat night. No pictures, no looking under bonnet, no looking inside the boot no mention of front mount, nothing. Just said he thought my car was bit loud and asked me to rev it to 4000 revs, then told me too leave Meanwhile some bloke in a white S15 was getting raped, torches under the bonnet, measuring tape out.

i saw the s15 too haha. if thety never issued mr x with any sort of epa notice or any paperwork you should be right man, same thing happened to a mate of mine once, they said he was gonna get the letter in the mail or something and never did so he rang epa and they had no records of anything of his car they just talk **** to freak you out, the amount of time cops have told me ill get a letter in the mail to take me to court or something like that is ridiculous lol nothing ever happens
