Loud clicking when going to start indicates dead battery to me!

Exactly what Deano said, sounds like a flat battery.

a bloke at work had the same prob it was the earth wires either on the guard nere the battery or on the block cant remember. just sand the contact areas and see if that works

recharged my battery and got new plugs and injector cleaner it runs smooth but there seems to be some lag with the throttle response like revving the car but a pause before the car actually revs any ideas??

NA or Turbo?
intercooled?

its could be ignition timing or just normal for engines that use a Mass Air flow meter from 25 years ago.
what happens when instead of smashing the throttle, you squeeze it gently first then give it a wack to the floor?
