Hi, just bought a clean VL Berlina last night 128xxxkms very pleased..introduction thread with photos to come. Anyway I know these cars are very easy to breach..plus I live in Deer Park..yeah. I'd like to hear some non-firearm related ideas to help protect my VL from theft. Thanks,

There's quite a few threads covering this just search around a bit, although most of them end up with "Guard dogs, lasers and fire!!!" Good quality immobilizer/alarm, shaved door locks and central locking should provide you with some peace of mind.

they are very easy to get into and you won't be able to change that best idea is to make the car harder to start so isolation/immobilisation is the area to look into if you are really keen move the computer from the kick panel to another location and make it easily removable so you can slide it out and take it with you of course someone can bring their own but who would suspect a parked VL has no computer in the first place?

Ah man what a worry. They reckon people even follow you home these days and roll start it. I'm getting a kill switch installed as a first priority this weekend for a start.

Removing the coil always worked for me, smaller then the ECU. Although more easily noticed.

Yeah we always use to take the coil lead with us in our older cars

Coil lead isn't a big stopper. You'd be better off taking the whole cap.

GPS trackers can be purchased fairly cheap these days. Very helpful to catch the tiprat and put a bullet in him.

I've mentioned on CT before that I can set immobilising in the ECU. its generally what people do as alarms with only ignition kills are quickly bypassed under the steering column cover which breaks off in a few seconds. usually a key fob to activate that needs to be plugged in or a key switch. of course it doesn't stop tow aways but atleast there won't be a joy ride unless a spare ecu is handy. but it is a compliment to other forms of security. personally like GPS tracking but it expensive for live tracking.

cbf reading what everyone has said. If they want it they will take it. Make sure you have insurance/good pay out. and make it harder for them to get it.
