Hey guys, My vl currently has a GT35 .82 rear on it at the moment. 6boost manifold cpc plenum etc etc. Makes 390hp on 21psi. I have got my hands on a gtx35. Just wondering if the gtx is going to make a decent difference over the older gt35? Reason for getting the gtx is my xr6t requires a new core and for the price I got the gtx for I thought I would use my current VL core in the xr and keep the gtx for the VL. If the gtx isnt going to be much better I am planning on selling the gtx and picking up a cheap 2nd hand core for the xr. Cheers Ian

Big thread dig, I ended up building a twincam 30 for the vl, anyway finally got a chance to do a back to back test with a gt vs gtx (borrowed the gtx off a mate) Same day, same dyno, same rear housing just changed the comp cover and core GT35 .82 iwg- 20psi- 427hp the gtx- on the same boost made less torque and the power also came on later, while making only slightly more overall power ( it was only 6 or so hp)

Was the GTX .82 or 1.06 rear? GTX's usually only win when the GT starts becoming inefficient which on an RB30 is around 25+ psi

massive difference when you up the wheel size though!

GTX turbo's are the new grove. The old GT35's are rated around 400HP to 600HP where as the GTX ball bearing turbo's are rated around the 750HP mark & would have quick spool being ball baring turbo. Plus the added life of a ball bearing turbo compared to the old thrust bearing.

They are both ball bearing units, correct me if im wrong but i thought the GTX just has a billet wheel with more fins

11 blade makes more progressive power, its laggier aswell The gtx wont make more power unless both are on total kill cheers darren

Yep both were on exactly the same .82 rear housing, only the core and comp cover were changed. As Darren said, probably would of made some more power with the gtx if both were wound up a bit more. But using 98 fuel it wasnt worth it.

I've seen a few posts about them being laggier obviously due to the extra air they flow. I know once we wound mine up past 25psi it really started making good power for every pound extra screwed in. I vaguely remember someone mentioning somewhere the gtx has a different bearing assembly. Can anyone confirm this?

Meant to have bronze bearing cage? To last a bit longer when spun on kill As thats the first thing that ****s out on a 3582 on kill Cheers Darren
