I've been reading about making a tailshaft to suit a 5.0 manual conversion in my vl 6 cylinder n/a. I've read that vl na and turbo/v8 tailshafts have a different circumference, meaning the turbo/v8 tailshafts are thicker. And I've read that due to the circumference on a vr v8 tailshaft you need the rear part of a vl turbo or v8 tailshaft. Now I just got under both my vr clubby and vl calais and measured the circumference on both tailshafts and they are the same. Can anyone tell me from personal experience if the rear part of my vl n/a tailshaft and the front half of the vr clubsport tailshaft will match together with no problems, keeping in mind ill get it balanced. Thanks.

to answer your question it should fit together but im pretty sure will be to long to fit in the vl. buy one from a vl v8 or if you wanna do on the cheap Get the rear half of vl or some vks had borgwarners, make sure rear tailshaft half has a bigger centre bearing piece to suit a trimatic v8 front half tailshaft, trimatic v8 yoke fits in manuals and autos, the t400 yoke is bigger and front half tailshaft is shorter again than the v8 trimatic tailshaft. for the cars ive owned i never got them balanced but if your picky id suggest get it balanced as there might be a slight vibration or if your chasing power get one made. if you want one ive got 3 laying around anyone else correct me if im wrong

Thanks for the info mate, but I'm gonna take both tailshafts to a tailshaft joint and get them to make and balance one up.
