I don't think there is a limit but it must be for uses as below. Call DOT and ask
What is a temporary movement permit?
A temporary movement permit is a third party insurance policy issued for the purpose of allowing an unlicensed vehicle to be driven on a road only for the purposes shown below.
Temporary movement permits can be obtained for the purposes of driving or towing:
an agricultural vehicle to a farm or agricultural property and to remain on such property;
an agricultural vehicle to or from the nearest place where repairs may be made;
an unlicensed vehicle to another Jurisdiction for licensing. The client should be advised to check the validity of the WA temporary movement permit in other Jurisdictions;
a tractor for display or demonstration to and from an agricultural or industrial field day;
a vehicle currently licensed in another Jurisdiction that has been purchased by a resident of Western Australia;
a vehicle to a place of repair with the intention of licensing the vehicle;
a vehicle for display or demonstration to the royal and country agricultural shows; and/or
a vehicle to a Vehicle Examination Centre for inspection.
The permit only provides insurance cover in respect of a third party injured or killed because of an accident involving the vehicle for which the permit is issued. It does not provide cover in respect of damage to property including the vehicle itself. If insurance of this type is required, it must be arranged separately with private insurers.
A temporary movement permit cannot be issued for:
any unlicensed motor vehicle that is being moved for parts or wrecking;
caravans and trailers being moved from site to site or being taken to or from a holiday resort;
once only movement of a boat jinker; or
overwidth and/or over length caravans.
Any conditions or limitations of use that have been endorsed on the permit by the issuing officer must be complied with.
Important note: Generally, temporary movement permits are only valid for 48 hours from the nominated start time. However, in certain circumstances a permit may be issued for longer periods approved by the Director General.

the rules may have changed recently indeed.
now if the car is or can be rego'd then you cant get one, ****ing retarded.
basically if it's inside the time you have to hand plates back in, cant do ****. dont know why... its retarded. Say it gets stickered, you dont pass, times up. Hand plates back in, still cant drive it on a permit for a few months.

I applied for a temp permit years ago on a registered vehicle with conversion, they told me then it was not possible. That was probably over 5 years ago. I inquired as i was driving the car to get tuned and didnt want to any issues if i pranked it as the conversion wasnt "approved" yet.

Well ive handed in my plates after getting a yellow, and have been getting permits to get to places for getting stuff done to re lic. Ive had 4 or 5 permits so far but have more work to be done...going back to engineer etc. I was trying to find out the limit(if any) so i could squeeze all the places in. Id ring the lic centre, but im almost certain they dont make public the ph numbers for specific lic centres anymore?
