hey all,
as you may all know by now, Calder Park Raceway in these later months has ceased all activity with no official word as to what is happening to the historic venue itself.
religeous friday night off street legals havent been held since last year. nor have any events related.
many speculations have been thrown around. for example :
- housing estate to replace the track
- no more funding
- track resurfacing / renovations
- council issues relating to noise complaint
all these speculations are just that. Being from the area and driving past the venue on a weekly basis it appears that no activity what so ever is present at the track itself.
anyone know of anything ?
Kind regards Sle3per

As far as I know don't think the place can be sold or built on as mid last year my bro laid optic fibre 14 ks down Calder hwy to the raceway.
The main ppl that work there said to him Calder has a kaviet on it, back in the day bob had everything dumped there from tyres to aspestos all sorts of stuff. apparently has high level of something, I forgot what he said!
But till all that's cleaned up can't be sold or built on
Would cost thousands
Could be true or bulls**t but yeah

its said that the walls of calder and thunderdome where built upon bob janes scrap tyres which were cemented into walls so i doubt that it will be sold in our life time if the epa has anything to say about it.
