Hi guys Looking at buying an original yellow BT1 Car is located outside melbourne going to look at it soon. For the users privacy I dont want to mention too many details of the car just wanted to get some hints and tips from all you guys, especially from all the BT1 enthusiasts. Shell is pretty cheap, originally a V8 BT1 though im not too bothered as long as it is an original yellow BT1. what are the common things I should be looking out for? ie matching numbers etc.. I know BT1's pretty well though as this is my first purchase of one I dont want to make a mistake. Thanks guys regards

Im probably wrong but i didnt think genuine 1d008d absynth yellow VL BT1 came in V8... As for things to check, ID Plates, Paint Code, Eng Number etc... Match all the codes up, rego sticker, rear quarter window number etc... possibly may have the whole still on the roof blocked up with a rubber grommet etc Take a magnet and look for bog, previous repairs, cracks in the paint and body (especially around the towers) no wholes cut in the engine bay/parcel shelf, rust

It might be an interstate BT1 where the yellow ones had a V8. Also VL-Exec i did a search though couldnt really find much although I do remember being a thread or two on this a while ago. Did do a search though couldnt really find anything...

is that the butternut yellow? thread moved from turbo to n/a discussion personally i reckon the blue V8 BT1's look the goods look for all the usual VL issues: rust, previous mods but really it all depends on your intentions with the car

dont see why this was moved??? Intentions are to restore to a pretty standard yellow VL BT1 turbo

now we know your intentions but didn't prev i moved it because we're discussing a VL V8 right now it would look all wrong as a turbo imho, wrong yellow for starters

mate no need to play musical chairs with my thread. Been on this forum for a while to know where threads go.... how would a turbo look wrong? the car is sprayed in absynth yellow with a clean interior minus driveline, Needs a full turbo driveline to get it going. Apart from that it is an original VL BT1

fcuk, it's like pulling teeth getting relevant info about your car from you so it's resprayed yellow but a different yellow to what's on the ID plate and you're changing it from a V8 to turbo do whatever you want, lots of threads already with info about what to look out for when buying a VL after all you're buying a car w/out driveline so the list is greatly reduced
