Just done an auto to manual conversion and the clutch travel is too short, just off the firewall and the clutch engages. The standard pushrod length is 65mm, if I made one up what length should it be, or is it suck and see. Thanks Mick

What was the slave from your using? Is the rod pushing the fork enough?

Got a new one for a vl. The pushrod takes up about 10-15mm of the travel of the fork.

does the master cylinder have a adjuster on it where it forks on to the clutch pedal?
Adjust it there if it does

Master cylinder adjustment does not give the adjustment needed.

I had this problem also, I couldn't engage any gears without a loud grinding sound. To fix it my mate ended up making a longer pushrod for me, and we had the master cylinder fork wound all the way out. I don't know how much longer we made the pushrod though, sorry mate

Yes, I thought this might be the case. I'll just run up a few lengths and see which one works and then get a mate to machine a replacement one which is the right length. Thanks for the info.

That seems like the best way to go mate. From memory we just used a bolt, probably a bit dodgy but it's been like that close to a year now no problems, apart from the pedal height that's all..

The length I found was 73mm from the standard 65mm. This will probably vary but can be used as a starting length.
