No one really knows how many were made because they were made by HDT and the records were lost. In addition they only got a HDT plate if they had other mods. Some have a HDT build sheet under the carpet, but that could easily have been lost or may not even have been put there in the first place. So it may be impossible to tell a genuine HDT built VL Calais from a mock up. If there is no way to tell it is a genuine HDT built Calais wagon then it isn't really worth anymore than a mock up.

Appox 9 wagons were plated from HDT in the VL range,Earliest wagon(VL) plated by HDT is 8/12/86 which is a white calais 3 litre wagon.Proir to this they were busy releasing the VL GPA and this wagon was in between these builds.Yours would have been an order.Forgot to add that another friend also owns the Group 3 wagon Which is also very nice.

No I just have basic records Vin, where it was sold,Date in and out of HDT.There were no HDT build sheets under the carpet only the orginal boardcast sheet they may of had the HDT order no on it.I have been an avid follower of the wagons from HDT from about 2004 onwards,We purchased ours from Perth and then shipped to New Zealand and did a full resto on her.PB saw her in early 2006 and signed all the paper work for her again.

Your sheet was the broadcast sheet(production sheet from holden)I have ours but fully intact. If found stuck to the flooor I have always advised people to photograph it before they try to remove. That way they still have a copy if removing it damages it.As wagons all came from Adalaide most sheets were there as a guy on the line would just about always threw it under the carpet.Ours was near perfect as no bolt hole from the seats and by the back seat.
