Hi guys, I know this is CT but **** ls1 forums lol, Curious who people are getting to tune ls1's these days, either vic, act or nsw south of sydney? im happy to travel as nobody is local to me anyway unless anybody knows a decent tuner around albury/wodonga or wagga wagga region, maybe even someone around shepparton area im open to anywhere really only after a mafless tune, car has full exhaust & otr getting setup on it already, what sort of coin is it to get done nowadays anyone know? been years since i toyed with one of these things and ive moved across the state so have no clue where to start lol. Sent off a few emails to people ive found online but id rather get first hand recommendations of people who have had it done if possible Also, these mail order tunes im seeing everywhere, are they any good? im not keen on any sort of backyard tuning/mail order **** but times have changed so thought id ask the question after all its only a basic exhaust/otr & tune nothing extreme!!! Any help appreciated Cheers in advance Dean.

Don't waste your time with mail order tunes bro, you get what you pay for.. Not sure what tuner would be close to you?? If you travel to melbourne there a heap to choose from. Prices very for a dyno maffless tune, anywhere from $900 - $1300 depending on who does it. GM Motorsport in Melbourne are pretty good, they have a special at the moment for tunes and ramjet OTR, under $1000!! Literally almost half price. Booking my car in aswell.

^^^ as above... How can a mail order tune be the best for your specific car? Best to put it on an actual dyno and get it tuned properly.

Cheers guys, wasnt keen on a mail order just thought id ask the question, had my calais for to long standard now got a.d.d over the weekend and decided its time I gave it some presents lol, cant wait to see the wifes face when shes back from her holiday lol oops. Gave the car a few goodies today. Set of stainless 4-1 extractors with 3.5" collectors, hiflow cats and twin 3", chucked a stainless otr on ready to go, drilled/slotted brembo rotors & pads, new suspension all round and decent diff 3.9s, etc 20" G8s, chucking a cam package in before the tune, was going to do it further down the track but biting the bullet and just getting it sorted asap, got a decent auto and converter ill chuck in before anything but will be going manual some time before end of the year. Any recommendations on cam or cam/head & tune packages? Dont mind losing some streetability for some good power? What sorta power are people pushing out nowadays? Who's good and who to steer away from? Wanting bang for buck of course as we all do but willing to spend a little extra for piece of mind and quality work. Advice appreciated, did a search about it but half the places ive never heard of and half are bloody shut down!! Cheers. Dean

But yes it's a very expensive business.. I can't understand why anything for a ls1 is worth a arm and a leg. $500 - $800 for a plastic OTR. Come on man that bs. $700 for a crappy pos growla kit lmfao. Spend 5k on a r33 skyline lets say.. What can you get? Full turbo back exhaust, front mount, boost controller, aftermarket computer and maybe coil overs if you look hard enough. Worst case scenario lowered springs. And that list can go on if your smart and buy 2nd hand. 5k on a ls1? Full exhaust, cold air and a tune. Lol
