so my vl was matt black when i got it running a rb30e and 5spd. i decided matt black wasn't my thing anymore and gave it a quick lick of paint and a set of 18x8.5 and some ultra lows was looking good. as my freshly painted car rolled out the driveway i couldn't resist flicking my shiney blue machine around a couple of times. as i pulled back in the drive i hear a miss in the engine, damn 4th cylinder low compression= 3rd rb30 broken.
after 6 months of sitting in my garage i have come to own another trusty rusty commodore in the shape of a 1992 vp gts 3.8 manual.
so the plan is to do a complete transfer of the vp motor, gearbox, dash, brakes.
has anyone fitted later model door cards to a vl?
I know i need a chipped memcal without the security stuff but is there any other majors with the wiring to be aware of. any help would be much appreciated.

Good luck with the build mate, should be a good challenge for you.
There's a lot to watch for when doing the transplant, do the research and you should be ok.
There's always snags along the way. Main ones is usually wiring.
You will need engine custom mounts for starters.
Keep the donor car right till the end as you never know what you need.

i'm going to use the whole vp k-frame with the fe2 suspension up front. the vp is a gts and has bigger brakes than my vl too. all that will swap straight over gear box crossmember has to be custom made along with the drive shaft too i think will chuck some pics up soon of the vl and the vp

Oh yeah of course, that will save a heap of stuffing around.
You should be able to use front half of vp drive shaft and rear part of vl so it will fit.
Just watch the spring rate of the vp springs in a lighter body VL won't be big difference but it will probably sit higher and handle different.
Should be an interesting build, I'll keep an eye on your progress.
You have a time frame in mind?
Post up progress pics,we always like to see them

Im guessing you mean the transponder for the engine immobiliser?
the vp does not have one so you wont have any issues there they only came out in the late 93 vr on..
