hey guys, first time i have posted it might be a bit of a mouth full but bear with me. i have a electrical draw in my vl and dont know what is causing the battery to go flat overnight. when i switch to reds my bosch fuel pump doesnt prime, although i can run the car fine and hear it running when car is, when i crank the car it starts up and fuel pump and everything works fine if i have enough charge to do so.i have taken apart the dash to see if i could find any suspect wires or any loose connections but havent found any. the thing i have come across is that the efi relay is getting really hot when the car is off.which leads me tothink thats what is draining my battery im going to put my multimeter on today to see exactly how much its drawing. then i was playing around with the connection to the back of the dash (for tacho etc.) when i unpluged the top connection (the white one at the top which plugs into the board at the top which goes to all the lights for the dash) i heard the relay click,i have left it over night with this disconnected and no battery drain, also when this is disconnected the fuel pump primes before start up. so my question is does any1 know what i should be looking for with this porblem,or any info i might have to check out.i thought it would be somthing to do with the ignition switch but i want know for sure before i do anything thanks

You have a spare relay? If you do maybe you could test it and convince yourself that's what's causing the drain.

Had a similar issue with the calais. Found out it was the central locking LOL. One of the central locks kept on holding the lock down draining the battery. MIght be a process of elimiation. Maybe remove one fuse at a time & see if any spark when you replace the fuse. That would arrow down which component is drawing power.

I had this problem, it was the computer triggering the EFI relay and causing the drain. Replaced computer all good, have a look at my thread http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=204814

Yeah, I reckon it just a process of elimination. Could be anything!!

Could be either the ING not turning off on both circut ( both pink wires ) .. Or the ecu not turning off as it earth switches the efi relay and also earth switches the fuel pump relay..

dead afm will set a fixed injector pulsewidth (very rich) and will not rev over 2k rpm, so easy to know if it's this usually because it will rev limit at 2k. cas, might be worth popping the distributor apart and make sure no dust from a perished dust seal on distributor shaft is blocking the 360 little windows on the chopper disc LOL. (make sure the disc goes back the same way or you will get a miss on cylinder 4 if it's upside down) also, the cas boots perish and water and **** gets in, remove connector and spray with crc contact cleaner or wd40, whatever you have, might be some corrosion.

alright all just got back from holidays and had a bit of a play around, i have found and fixed the problem. It ended up being the alternator,i thought it may be the brushes of the regulator,i took it apart and bam there was all **** in between the brushes and the shaft so was wasnt providing contact, i gave it a good contact clean and got rid of all the **** and replaced in car, its all fine now. thanks for the info guys finally i can drive it somewhere without worrying that it wont start.
