Hi all, Recently bought a vs v8 statesman for a daily driver but I'm having some serious issues trying to get the demister controls to work properly. There seems to be a lot of sh%+ going on behind the dash with these cars and I've had a look at, still can't figure out what's going on. This is what I've done and checked so far. Removed all centre console, glovebox, and associated dash panels to inspect all vacuum lines are not split or crimped. Checked as much visible wiring and connections as possible without opening the cable looms up. The climate control module thing seems to be working as it controls the all speeds of the fan okay but it won't operate any other functions like air flow direction from feet to face or demisting the windscreen. It blows at your feet and that's it, doesn't change to anything else. All the air ducts are connected properly without any damage to them. The only thing that I can note is that there is a small vacuum operated diaphragm thing that is mounted next to the fan that's located above the glovebox that doesn't operate with any controls but I doubt that its the culprit of all this. Any help would be great, as I can't get a roadworthy without fixing this and it's really pissing me off. Already spent hours on it. Cheers Chris.

The reason it's blowing at ur feet is cause that's its default setting. Mine did this. Turned out to be a black box under the CD player has the like 5 15mm holes in it. That controls all your vacuum which in turn controls where the air comes out. It's bout 200mm long 30mm tall all your vacuum lines plug on to the back of it. I got a second 1 from the wreckers for 40 buks. Took bout 15 mins to change. Hope this helps

Yeah, I did see that. Checked all the vac lines were on properly then unplugged and visually inspected and reinstalled with no difference. I'll try it again with a replacement and update, cheers

They are just known to fail. If u pull the cover off the front of it n clean the little filters n clean inside there is a chance for it to work again.
