Hey all,
Just wanna know if anyone has had fuel pump problems in their vl's when there running hot due to outside temps.
I'm sitting in peak hour traffic blocking a lane in Melbourne out bound which is really #*^*ing annoying.
But the funny thing is that it broke down the other day also cause it was hot. (3 weeks ago)
After 20 mins sitting on the side of the freeway she kicked over no dramas and its been sweet ever since today when it was pretty hot again.
I've had this car 10 years and I've never needed to change the fuel pump.
But for some reason it still primes okay. WTF......!
Yeah you can hear the external pump prime but you can't hear the internal pump. To me it sounds like the internal pump is at fault. Also when it's boiling hot does the clutch fan spin with ease or is it tight/hard/stiff to spin??
To be honest, I'm usually driving the car when she's hot, not standing in front of it checking that the clutch fan is spinning. So I don't know, and she's not running now to check it.
Any chance something else is at fault?
I still think its the internal though.
Yeah. Once the car is boiling/hot. Switch it off, rotate the clutch fan with your hands & see if it rotates easy or hard/stiff. That should determine if your clutch fan is working. Other than that it might be your thermostat.
