i just changed my my question is when i push my clutch in from any gear changing up the revs will not drop for atleast 2-3seconds, i recently had my throttle cable of im thinking maybe its now to tight and holding my tb open?? even on idle if i rev it will sit on 1500+ rpm, i just dropped my car off for window repair so i wanna get on top of this asap when its back... any suggestions
so iv still got this problem now iv got my vl back from the panel shop.... it only holds revs if i drive past 2500 rpm it will hold for a few seconds and a couple times its bounced up a couple hundred rpm........................
sounds like the throttle cable doesn't have any freeplay in it which it needs to operate under all conditions.
make sure its just enough slack so you are able to bump the throttle a mm or two without it changing rpm.
what has happened is the TPS (throttle position switch) has been activated causing the spark advance to shoot up which is causing the high idle. as the trusty RB has a very old and slow idle management system, it may not be able to correct the idle speed quickly enough.
when the engine is warm (4 minutes), check the ignition timing if possible and you may notice it sits on 25-30 BTDC.
if thats the case, either the TPS needs adjusting or the throttle cable needs some slack in it.
