Hey Guys, Basically the wiring in my Calais Turbo is rooted, just keep getting problem after problem with everything from the engine to heater to lighter to lights, central locking, power windows, the lot. Want to replace the complete body and engine loom with a plug in kit, preferably something without the ridiculously fat standard wires. Not interested in stripping looms from wrecks etc, want a brand new kit. Im running all factory looms at the moment. Now I'm thinking of a painless wiring kit, I've heard of these being made for VLs but I can't seem to find anything non American on their site. Anybody know of a distributor for Painless Wiring, or any other similar kits that would be suitable? I wouldn't mind anything that relocated the fuse box and whatever else if thats what the kit does, just want to get rid of my old loom by any means besides a custom made loom by an auto elec, which Im guessing will be quite expensive Thanks for any help James

Summit Racing or Jegs are probably the cheapest place to buy a Painless kit. Their own generic brand looms are basically the same thing and half the price. I've wired in a couple of Jegs looms and couldn't fault them. Just adapt the ignition barrel loom to suit the generic loom. Its just a matter of crimping the ends onto the wires and clipping them into your VL key plug

With the Jegs and wiring kits, and even painless, who do you go through to get them? Looking at the online stores, the product lists only suit american cars? Or did you just buy the generic kit and adapt it to work in a VL?

Buy it straight from Jegs. I've installed one of these into a WB and another into a KE55 and had no dramas with either. The GM description is only for the ign barrel plug. Just clip the wires into your VL plug. The Summit one would be basically the same item I would presume. Good thing is with them is they offer economy shipping so you don't have to pay through the arse if you don't need it yesterday. Both these guys sell the painless looms too. You probably won't find them cheaper anywhere else Send 86SLVLT a pm on here. I'm pretty sure he installed a Jegs loom in his VL http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performan...ductId=2175277 (http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performance-Products/555/10405/10002/-1?parentProductId=2175277) http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-890021/overview/

i bought a painless wiring micro fuse kit for a customers vl which i will be fitting in the future after a well known business did a filthy job of hiding his wires and butchering everything. it has labeled wiring and comes with all connectors and seems reasonable to install, i just have to work out where i need to put relays in and its all good. from what i've seen i would recommend buying one and doing it yourself
