I recently swapped my '62 Humber for this Exec' with the intention of building
an Absynth Yellow BT1 replica, I'd like it to be as accurate as possible.
I know it might not be anything special but it's just something that I've
personally always wanted so I figured that now is as good a time as any.
It will be a rather slow process, I've looked through all the BT1 and BT1
mock-up threads on CT that I've found and the "BT1 myths and facts thread".
But I can assure you that I will still have some 'stupid/naive' questions along
the way (so bear with me).
It's not turbo at the moment but will definitely be a turbo (and so I've put
it in the turbo section, apologies if it shouldn't be in here).
Make / Model: 1987 VL Executive.
Colour: Imperial (?) blue.
Bodykit: No.
Engine Type: RB30
Engine Mods: To be removed and replaced with stock factory RB30T.
Power: None at the moment.
Exhaust: As above.
Gearbox: Auto, to be replaced with MX7.
Diff: Stock N/A to be replaced with VLT.
Brakes: As above.
Suspension: Chopped springs, to be replaced with lowered Kings.
Wheels/Tyres: Interceptors, will have 205 tyres on the front and 235's on the rear
Interior: Grey SL to be replaced with beige SL
Stereo: None at the moment.
Other Mods: -
Future mods: Absynth Yellow over MX Grey paint, beige SL interior,
factory RB30T with manual g'box. << They're the basics but I'll list the
process and changes as I go.
The body is in better condition than I'd expected, just the usual VL rust,
minor rust around the front screen and where the boot rubber sits.
As well as a minor section in the L/H rear pillar which will be cut out and
replaced.
Here are the photos of when I got it home, all the interior parts I will be
selling off so if you see something that you're interested in, let me know
as I may seperate it.
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
Started completely stripping this down, the interior is all out, just need to finish
stripping out the wiring, heater box, other under dash stuff etc. Then shall start ripping
everything out of the bay and smooth over the holes that don't need to be there.
It's amazing what you find when you strip a car back, some people just shouldn't be
allowed anywhere near cars when it comes to DIY installations. The parcel shelf
has been pretty hacked up for speaker holes as have the front inner doors.
The amount of micellaneous wiring that was under the carpet and (quite badly)
wired into the loom was ridiculous.
Although luckily I haven't found any hidden problems with the body as yet.
Also stripped down a fair bit of the body, most of the exterior moulds as well as the nosecone and bonnet as both were damaged. Headlights, taillights and both the front
and rear bars are also off.
Quick question too, I'll be stripping out the doors next and the current exterior door handles are black. Did BT1's usually have black or chrome? Or did it vary? (and did they
have the 'scratch protectors' below the handles?) Most I've seen seem to be black, but I'm not sure whether that's just because it's the individuals choice due to it sometimes looking cleaner.

Thanks mate, yeah I plan to have it looking as close to an og BT1 as possible
but with a few mild 'custom' touches.
