The title hopefully grabbed some attention for a speedy reply My question is how much do you have to modify or bash out the body to fit a power glide and does anyone have a pic or two of what they did Is there anyway of installing a glide without touching anything Cheers

The glide is short and wide (aka chode) and is much wider than the vl trans tunnel. There is a thread already on this somewhere, I heated mine up and bashed the f$&k out of it to make the room, where as a few other blokes just beat theirs without heat. You'll see where it needs to be dealt with as soon as you try to sit it in there, and there's no way it will fit without modification. Hope that helps

it doesn't need a huge amount chris, a few hits with a decent sized hammer gets the job done, about 10cm back from the firewall on the sides and roof of the tunnel took me 30 minutes

before you hit the body work, make sure the engine mounts are in good condition. if one looks more squished than the other, probably change it while your at it as it will change the spacing in the tunnel and also the exhaust position. a tell tail sign could be wear marks in the bottom of the fan shroud from a dropped engine mount. if you go and heat the body work up, keep a few wet rags handy and a bucket of water as the carpet might light up. having one of those roadworks council workers handy is a good thing so they keep an eye on the inside of the car while your under it.

If it's just the glide it doesn't need much at all, if it's got a scatter shield then it will need a bit more! well mine did anyway.

i thought the title was more along the lines of how bad you treat your car whilst driving etc. My white wagon goes everywhere, on/offroad through trees signs etc, havnt washed it ever and it makes a genuine 550+rwhp, chris can vouch for the above lol on the actual topic is a glide much bigger than say a th350, i had to swing the hammer a bit to fit one in my other wagon, nothing really major though
