Ok so I'm ready to slap a turbo on my vl I'm getting off my plates soon. Now I have knowledge about comp engines but I've never worked on a turbo engine So I have a few questions I want to run around 10-15 psi Its manual and i have a few parts. It has Port and polished heads Forged pistons Full double piston brake upgrade 21/2 high flow exhaughst Pacemaker extractors Cold air intake Double thortle body not surr on size Hd clutch I also have a intercooler obv not installed So i want to know 3 things. 1: what turbo i was thinking a gt35 but i know nothing about them 2: a few good supplyers like proboost 3: do i need a turbo timer and boost control Sorry 1 more I have about 4k can i get it done for that

Mate yes a gt35 for sure but you will need a fuel system and computer to run 15psi on a gt35 try microtec lt10s 550cc injectors and a 044 pump no you dont need a turbo timer and a good boost controler like eboost street would be good or just a bleed tap if you want to save coin

get a genuine gt35/40 u can find them cheap from time to time for around $1000 there about $1700 new, id upgrade the exhaust to a 3", sell the extractors and exhaust to recover a few $, ull need a boost controler to get it to 15psi but ull also need a wastegate unless u run an internal gate but ull still need a boost controler, turbo timers are ok but not nessesary, just dont boot it befor u turn it off just cruse befor u get to where u wanna be....as for coin well allow say $300-$500 on a 3" exhaust, u can use the 2.5 but it will restrict it, ull need injectors theres around $500 and an ecu to run them say $1000 plus wiring and tune allow $1000, sell ya throttle body set up and just get a factory na inlet if your going to keep the turbo low mount...theres a start but be aware once its done ull start breaking stuff like ya manual box and diffs ect then ull want more boost, man its endless once u get bitten by the bug lol have fun and enjoy

Thank you I already planed for the ecu and my uncle is a auto electrician he said h cab put in for free the injectors and pump I was going for 660cc injectors but I wasn't sure Wichi pump And the gearbox I figured it would melt was just wondering what gear box I should get and my extractor and exhaust is going to my nephew he got a vl Calais as well so I'll hook him up As for the 3" anything special I should get for that or just a high flow

its rubbish. twin TB doesn't really increase the amount of air getting in by double. Think like this. trhe engine will only flow as high a volume as it can at the most restricvtive point. so really twin TB's on an rb30 are overkill. you can go XF TB or even holden 5.0l find a workshop who will price you up at a conversion and stick with them is my suggestion

Sounds like your going to learn alot mate. Go for gold. my advice just explore your options. Build a price list and add 1,000 to it for extras. Add that to the price of your car. You should have around $6,000 to $8,000 Now go on the net and look for a vl that's turbo with a reco engine with recipts, should be between $8,000 and $12,000 I know its early days for you but its good to look at the big picture. Good luck mate theres nothing like building a car yourself and knowing its history
