Hi guys i recently had my cammed vx calais serviced it had 5.7L of new oil put in it and had only done under 4k since service and ran low on oil, my partner was driving when it happened it sounded like we had a flat tyre i topped the oil up let it sit for a while then started it up there is a small ticking noise coming from the head it is not the big end bearing as it has happened to me before, it idles ok but when you drive forward it sounds like the extractor has come off. can anyone give me some advice on what it could be??

i was using 10w-40 but unsure what they used when it was serviced

You should of got a low oil light?

sounds like your headers are leaking, tractor noise and ticking fits the description. as duke said low oil usually gives oil light

thats what i thought bout the oil light but i had a new engine put in at the start of the year so the oil light could have something to do with that, thats exactly what it sounds like is a tractor when u put ur foot down can i test for that myself?? cheers for the help

just thought id let yous know i got it diagnosed today and it was a broken rocker arm

ask the cam installer, if your motor has a the notorious rocker guide plate that tended to crack.
