Hi guys,
As above has anyone done this?
I have a pair of rb26 factory snails sitting here and I'm thinking about dropping them onto my A6. I'm looking to do this on a jesus budget and can get the manifolds made for practically nothing.
I figure if these can power the 2.6 to the normal 206 kw the surely the 3l can bring it on earlier and with gtr injectors and fuel it would surely have similar results. Maybe decomp the A6 for longevity? Obviously would run them parallel with oem wastegate actuators.
Nothing fancy just a nice responsive setup for a cruise on a sunday
Now everyone will probably say just go big single but I have this **** laying around so why not.
I've done a search but couldn't find anyone that's done this.
Dave
Hi Mate,
just bear in mind that a standard RB26 Twin Cam GTR Head flow 24% More than a fully modified Single Cam head, so unless you're using a twin cam head on your A6 engine, this will make somewhat of a difference.
But good on you for thinking outside the box!! should be good to see.
There was one for sale on here years ago, cool setup.

I'd do it.

Ok cool, do you think the extra 200 cc of capacity per turbo be enough to help offset the 24%? also when you say fully modded sohc head do you mean the absolute works I.e. oversized valves cnc port/polish and big cam?

I've also read that the turbos could suffer oil starvation so I wonder would it be overkill to shove a rb26 oil pump up it's ass? I know people have had issues with the N1 but maybe the factory pump would be a happy medium... Or would the rb30 turbo pump be enough?

i may be wrong but wasn't billy rajabs show car a twin rb30 sohc?
also what was the pac performance purple vl's twin setup that was for sale a while back on here for? not sure if pac setup was single or twin but 99% sure the rajab showcar had twins on sohc

Its according to flow bench testing in-house.

Exactly what I was going to say, if you drop a ceramic shell in one, you'll lunch your engine.
Stock you wouldn't run any more than 12psi, even then you're in danger.
Prob cost you about a grand to hi flow them and get steel wheels in em.

They have the stock actuators on them, so should be alright. I don't really plan on boosting to high.... I should probably get off my ass and check if they are steel wheeled as they came in a box with my old gtr that had 2871-10's

Depends mate, GTR's have a restrictor in the vacuum line that runs back to the control unit, if you take that out they run up to around 15psi, grenade territory.....

Ok, didn't know that cheers mate. I'm thinking I should get the N1 kit and upgrade them to be on the safe side.
