So atm i have a standered VLT Brake set up: Im looking to upgrade the brakes to suit 300rwkw So ive done a bit of reading and from what ive gathered Rears: Change to Slotted Rotors - Aprox $200 Not sure on brand, any thing recomended? Fronts: VT Brake Upgrade or R33 GTST Brake Upgrade After speaking to Hoppers Stoppers they can organise the VT kit ranging from $800-$1200 depending on what rotors are chosen... +$200 Labor I also think ill get them to re do the brake lines and install the VT master cylinder Does the above sound about right for the power im making? Any help is much appreciated...

I am aiming for 300rwkw with mine and I am keeping VLT calipers all round.. I'm going for DBA slotted rotors all round, Bendix ultimate pads all round, VS booster and VT master cylinder. I've had VT twin pistons on a VL before and I think the conversion isn't worth the extra coin.

VT fronts are awesome, I hated mine for ages, then got them stupid hot and they were awesome after that. I would run standard master and booster (1inch) upgrade to VT fronts, braided lines, and a good set of slotted rotors, drilled are sh1t, they can crack with heat. Rears get slotted rotors and a good set of pads. Call Matt at Race Brakes Sydney, he is awesome to deal with. Good pads are the real key, I preferred the Bendix ultimate over anything else, EBC are crap.

What kind of budget?

The R33 4 pot front and 2 pot rear with VN group A rotors would be a cool upgrade but minimum 16" wheels.

VT fronts with standard rears, QFM A1RM pads with RDA sloted rotors, braided lines, a VT booster AND master cylinder modified to suit VL and some Motul 500 brake fluid and you have a very neat brake setup. I wouldnt do it without the VT booster and master.

I don't really have a budget I just want something to stop me safely with the power I have, it will mainly be street driven with some track time... 16" rims is fine... I like the idea of keeping standard booster and master cylinder if its good enough...

Get DBA's over RDA's, much better quality. If you get R33 GTS-t fronts, im fairly certain that matt(vrh32 who sells the kits) said in a post that you can make them fit under a 15" chaser with bit of griding/spacer.

Also consider rx7 calipers, they also run off std. 1 inch master set up, fit under 15s and vrh32 also does these. Ive got them now but yet to drive on them

Still finding it hard to make up my mind on what the best outcome is... I have painted up the VLT Booster and order a brand new 1" master cylinder to suit VLT... I was going to order: 300mm KIT TO SUIT VB – VP COMMODORE Included in Kit: Pair 300 mm Disc Rotors and Twin Piston Calipers Set Semi – Metallic Brake Pads (this ill remove from kit and order brake pads as recommended above) Pair Conversion hubs made from K1045 Billet steel fitted with bearing cups and wheel studs Pair custom Brake Hoses and copper washers Full Fitting Instructions You need to have at least 15" rims to fit this conversion. We also suggest a 1" bore Master Cylinder (Turbos and later V8 Commodores have these as standard). So i can get this kit with slotted for $970 first price ive got but ill also call up Race Brakes Sydney for a quote For the rears standard VLT with slotted rotors... anything there that seems over priced or wrong?

If it were me i'd put some braided lines on at the same time.

What size wheel are you going to use? Do you ever want to fit 15" rims on the front? ---------- Post added 11-12-12 at 09:26 ---------- I can do a full four spot brake package which would end up costing you about $1300 delivered. A far better kit than spending $1100 on that VT kit with extra brake pads but you needs 17" rims. New 327x28mm VN Gp A discs (non slotted) Fully reco'd Skyline R33 calipers (genuine Nissan seal kits) New Laser cut, zinc plated bracket kit New braided brake lines New high performance Bendix Ultimate or QFM brake pads Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I went with Harrop 4 spots all round, sourced from VX HSV. The conversion needed hub adaptors, rear handbrake bracket and VS/VT master which was a straight forward bolt on kit. The only downfall is that 18" is the smallest rim I can fit up, but easily the best upgrade I have done to the car.

Minimum wheel I'd want to be able to use is 15 or 16 inch interceptors on the front so unfortunately that kit would not suit? I'm am going ahead with the vs booster upgrade and vt master cylinder tonight, has anyone had issues painting the vs booster being plastic?

It's up to you... $200 for reco calipers and new pads or $325 for new calipers and pads. Depends what brands the discs are? The braided hose kit is well priced.
