Hey guys, it's been a while since I have posted on here. It's come that time where my little cousin is looking into getting his first car and in family tradition wants a nice clean vl. Had a lood Gumtree, car sales etc. Is it just me or is a clean vl incredibly hard to find these days? He has a 2012 yz250 that is still BRAND NEW he wants to get rid of for a car. I think his best bet is to sell it instead and just deal with cash.... Anyway, at this stage I think a non turbo would be the way to go (I will convert it to turbo once he proves himself).... Either Calais/Berlina etc. Can be auto or manual. Surely some of you guys must have something nice and clean you wouldn't mind parting with? Any help would be great.

What sort of price range you looking at mate? I'm looking at selling my calais shortly..

I know how everyone on here takes pride in their cars (well most) so I'm looking to find the cleaner ones here on CT first before we branch out and look elsewhere Cheers in advance lads. That's the idea. 12k should allow us a pretty wide range of cars to look at so fingers crossed something nice and tidy pops up. He wouldn't mind buying an NA either so that's another option, can then source up turbo conversion, fmic, exhaust etc pretty easily and have some fun chucking it all together.

once he's going to start modifying it hardly matters what car he bought from the start. I should know lol. clean NA calais in excellent condition shouldnt be more than 5k surely. not really worth anything more than that.

i'd go clean n/a calais and build something properly. with that said a 5spd rb25 one just popped up on gumtree with fresh black paint. aside from being destined to meet a pole, i couldnt think of a more desirable first car haha

Be a good bloke and steer him away from anything VL related! You can buy something nice, clean and reliable for $12g's. VL's are old, trouble with the police and endless money pits. I love/hate my VL and it's always broken haha

i have to agree with INK, buttt in saying that they snap the most necks and ive found get alot of respect if they pull good power, more so than a ss or hsv etc !! my vl is commented more that my slammed e series maloo?? go figure lol

yeah it goes good now too, new turbo, clutch and waterpump and timing belt done on wknd =D car goes hard and made around 360hp on a BYE tune =D

i put a brand new xtreme motorsport clutch in her just before a sold it haha i bet i know how it met its demise. the bye dyno is meant to be pretty low reading ey? On par with ovaboost from what i've heard. Good buy for 12k. tidy vl turbo's will only increase in value over time.

The clutch that was in it fused to the flywheel, cheap option clutch so now hes running what ive got and loves it hey =d just stalls it getting used to the true button feeling hahaa

ahah i fused the old one to the the flywheel as well. and another on my 2j after i got it. carbon twin plate solves that problem.

There's a Calais for sale on AntiLag at the moment. 260rwhp from a t04z at 9psi. probably room for improvement but seems pretty decent.
