Hey just bought n N/A RB30 n auto with extractors n 3inch exhaust for $1000 off n old guy. He has reciepts for $7800 for mods on the motor n i would like to know how much power it might have n if a VL 5spd box with heavy duty clutch will handle it. Or should i just keep the auto behind it. any info much appreciated Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

If it's in good condition it would probably have about 115kw which is what they had from new. even with extractors dont expect much more than that. the $7800 in receipts is more than likely for repairs every time the car/motor ****ed up on him and he just paid mechanics instead of fixing things himself. trust me, old guys always bull**** about what they have done or spent on cars. a 5 speed box would be a good upgrade however your current box could be fine also. from what i've experienced manuals tend to get more of the motors power to the back wheels. auto's can be nearly as good but only when they are in absolute top condition. Manual is much more fun though. p.s do a seach next time at the top left of the page or type your questions into google and info will pop up from this site and also others which may be of help.

Go turbo. If the old engines been fixed up, it's running good, has a 3 inch exhaust and an auto. spend the money on turbo it for around $1200 n save your self time and money with a good performance gain. Or 500-1000 for auto to manual it will still b n/a and you will need to change the exhaust (it's waaaay to big) for a 2.5 Then when u want to turbo it you'll have to do another manual conversion to r33 or auto any buy the big 3inch exhaust again. Iv done the conversion my self at home and I'm not a mechanic big job forgone guy and u will need profecinal advice or u will be pulling the box out again NOTE: Professional advice: not hear-say in this forum even on the auto to manual threads)

. the $7800 in receipts is more than likely for repairs every time the car/motor ****ed up on him The receipts have whats done to it, from all the headwork to all bottem end work i've checked it all out. it was rebuilt 10,000 k's ago. Im not a know it all, he took me for a drive in the vl that the motor was in at the time. He could fry the rears into top gear n sounded good doin it. When i put my VL on the dyno ill let u now what it makes n if the the receipts r the real deal. ---------- Post added 06-08-12 at 14:32 ---------- Quote: Originally Posted by Turismo [View Post] Go turbo. wait sorry u saying a na auto frys tyres in top gear :O so cruising in top gear and steps on it ?im sorry not putting it down but i dout that many vl turboes can do that and the r33 box alone is a bout 1500 not including pedal box and slave and master cylinder and tailshaft

You can pick up an r33 cheap if you do ur homework. Vls cost lots of cash man. 10,000 and it's still n/a pulling under 120 kw max I'd Manual it with a mf5 box or rb20 box(smoother) and save for a turbo Vl or better car when ur allowed big power. That way you can smash the gears n make it sing for cheap thrills n still be more reliable than a turbo Or blow all ur money on the 33box convo stay n/a ( defeats the purpose of the 300kw box) Then go turbo when ur legally able to. You could sell it n buy a Vl manual But seem ur not alowed big power so u want something fun. Any manual will go well with the same mods as you can impose on an n/a Vl . building a n/a Vl fun pack is hell cheap n good fun. Easy to fix and cheaper to run
